I was super excited by all the good things I’ve heard of this place. We booked a class for my birthday but come the day of, there is a winter storm with At least 6 inches of snow already and much more to come. They would not let me move my class to another day or even offer some discount for a different day. They stole $300 from us.
They just said the weather isn’t “bad” enough even though I have to drive 1.5 hours to get to this place. Unpleasant customer service because they don’t give a hoot about you.

Intense and thorough. I am a big fan of the full day, hands-on classes at Chopping Block. Would recommend to anyone who really wants to learn how to cook.

We had such a great experience at The Chopping Block’s Fireside Feast class! The chefs were fantastic—super knowledgeable, fun to learn from, and great at breaking down techniques in a way that felt easy and approachable. The menu was absolutely delicious, and we loved getting to cook (and eat!) everything ourselves. We walked away with new skills, helpful tips, and a lot more confidence in the kitchen. Highly recommend this class!

We’ve taken classes before at The Chopping Block but this is the first time we’ve done the Thanksgiving Bootcamp! Such a wonderful way to spend a Saturday! Wonderful hands-on instruction on an incredible menu. Our instructors were tremendous (and very patient)… would highly recommend as a date or a group activity! Plenty of food to bring home too…

Terrific Simmer and Savor: Cozy Soups and Stews class. Lead by wonderful teacher Neil and his assistant Matt. They did a great job guiding us through making three soups in two hours! The whole process was easy to follow thanks to Neil and Matt’s guidance. The staff had prepped all the ingredients for each soup, and this made the cooking process easy to move through each step. There were two groups of five “students” working together, and we each had an opportunity to do different jobs making each soup. We were in the upstairs kitchen area which was cozy and felt like cooking in your own kitchen. I can’t wait to sign up for more classes!

I took the Chopping Block Boot Camp 1 in November 2025, and it was an incredible experience. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone!
I learned so much. Not just cooking techniques, but the why behind them. There were so many “a-ha!” moments throughout the week, and I’ve already started applying the skills at home. I feel so much more confident in the kitchen now - the class gave me exactly what I needed.
I’ve been cooking for about five years and wanted to elevate my skills. The class included a wide range of experience levels -some people had never cooked before, while others cooked often - and a great mix of ages and genders, which made the environment feel welcoming and fun.
On day one, you receive a personalized binder filled with tips, recipes, and plenty of space for notes. It became my go-to reference throughout the week.
The schedule was Monday-Friday, 9 to 5. They made us breakfast each morning, and we ate everything we cooked for lunch and an early dinner, with plenty of leftovers to take home.
We had different chefs almost every day. Some sessions were lectures or demonstrations, but most of the time, you were actually cooking. The 12 students were split into three tables, so you cooked with the three other people at your station. There were always three chefs circulating, guiding each table. Everyone was incredibly kind and supportive, and our group is still keeping in touch!
The chefs were wonderful: knowledgeable, experienced, helpful, and also genuinely funny and entertaining. I found myself smiling all day!
This was an experience I will never forget, and I feel so lucky to have found the Chopping Block and to have taken this class.

After retiring, one of my bucket list items was to go to a cooking school. I'd been to a few one day classes, but wanted to learn A to Z. I just finished the one week Bootcamp 1 and it was amazing. All the Chef Instructor were amazing and helpful. We started at knife skills and went on through fish, chicken, beef, soups, sauces, grains and vegetables, even a chocolate souffle. If you have ever want to seriously upgrade your cooking skills, while at the same time have tons of fun, the this Bootcamp is for you. I'll warn you though, bring your appetite.

I just finished Culinary Bootcamp I at The Chopping Block, and I’m honestly so glad I signed up. The entire week was hands-on, well-paced, and packed with skills I’ll actually use. The instructors were knowledgeable, patient, and great at breaking things down in a way that made everything click. I walked in feeling unsure about a lot of techniques and left feeling genuinely confident in the kitchen.
Lisa, the owner, clearly puts a lot of thought into how this place runs. The class flowed smoothly every day, the space is beautiful and well-organized, and the quality of ingredients and instruction is consistently high. You can tell she really cares about creating a great learning environment.
I had such a great time that I’m already looking at future classes. If you’re thinking about taking the bootcamp—do it. It’s absolutely worth it.
