The Renaissance Society is a small, independent gallery at the University of Chicago with high ceilings and rotating contemporary art exhibits. It presents exhibitions, events, and publications, all free and open to the public. The content changes from time to time. While not easy to reach via public transit, it is an interesting place for art fans, especially those with extra time to visit Hyde Park. The displays can include paintings and interesting movies with narratives.
Very thoughtful exhibit. A lot of great student energy. Worth the time to find.

A very small gallery space, but it’s free and they have rotating exhibits. I wouldn’t go out of your way to visit, but if you have some extra time you could pop in!

Great for art fans who like high ceilings. Not easy via public transit unless you are coming from downtown. Why is Hyde Park so hard to get to? We may never know.
