Decided to splurge for a date night out, whole meal for 2 was $90 (with dessert). Food was delicious, but we left hungry. Service was just okay, seemed like they may have not had enough staff in the front. Overall, strong 5 stars if they'd given us like 1.5-2x the food we ended up getting.

Hello, everyone and wish ? ? you all a ? good ? blessed day ? ❤️, OK this has to be noted ✅️ ? Friday 1/ 19 / 2024 ME and my Wife departed our parked car in hopes of attending this restaurant for lunch at around 3 p.m. not knowing their schedule at which point their was a worker on the sidewalk to the entrance shoveling snow as my wife walked pass him she entered the restaurant as I preceded behind her not knowing that they were not open for business the worker aggressive angrily accosted me and said stop what are you doing I told him that I was joining my wife for dining he then ran in to the counter and loudly abruptly yelled at wife get out we are closed and it's not our fault he left the door opened and there was no visible sign on the door stating open or closed he then went on to wave his hand towards Capri pizzeria adjacent to their store as if we couldn't afford to dine there at giannas me and wife believe this was a panic of a unlocked door without taking a security measure to put in place safety protocol also from his behavior this was definitely Racial Descrimination , For Me Being Afro-American/ and my Wife Hispanic. P.s. we went on to find other excellent dining and extremely well customer hospitality at Cafe baba Reba where our bill was $160.00 , we also tipped our waiter $40 ,the water guy $20 the server$20 , the female desk host $20 , The doorman$10.... My Wife a?? Nurse, I'm a Private ?️♂️ Detective...

The Restaurant Week deal was good value. If you're looking for cheap drinks with your meal, this is not the place. The cheapest bottle of wine was around $55. Otherwise, the Pork Chop and Veal meatballs were excellent.

The food was absolutely delicious! My wife and I ordered the arrancini, and calamari to start. Both were cooked perfectly, the arrancini was crunchy on the outside and the risotto was cooked perfectly inside. The calamari were fried to perfection. For our entrees we had the gnocchi and lamb chops. The gnocchi were pillowy soft and absolutely delicious. The lamb chops were cooked perfectly and the escarole and potatoes that they were served with were excellent. For dessert we had the chocolate lava cake and lemon gelato. It was a fantastic meal, and a great experience. We'll definitely be coming back.

Don’t waste your time and money going here. There are so many good Italian restaurants in Chicago, go there. We had rice balls for an appetizer for $13. They were the size of golf balls. I have better elsewhere. We had 2 dishes of pasta with Italian sausage, mushrooms and peas. They were nothing special for $25. I could have made a better Italian dish at home.It took awhile before my daughter was served her glass of wine. We needed to ask where it was. When our server delivered our food, she had the wrong order. She went to another table with them and was also turned away. She came again with the wrong dishes. One of them was correct. She wanted to give that dish to my daughter without having the other 2. I said no, that’s not how you serve people. My daughter accepted it. So, my daughter finished her meal while we sat there with nothing to eat. It took awhile before the 2 dishes were made. She offered no Parmesan cheese, more water, etc. we needed to ask for all of it.We received only apologies for our disappointments.

Don't waste your time or money here! I did a more detailed review on google. I don't feel like rewriting it. Food was mediocre at best. It's pricey for that quality and taste of food. One example, 2 golf ball sized rice balls were $13. I've had better. Service was beyond horrific. Waited for our drinks, needed to ask where they were. Order for food was wrong. She served one of three while they made the correct ones. 2 of us sat there watching one eat. No offer for more water or bread or cheese. All we received was a sorry. Soooo disappointing when we know we have been to excellent Italian restaurants. They post all these past, long past, awards. There's a reason why they haven't won anything in a long time.

Food:1. Risotto balls were pretty good. Order extra marinara if you like to dip a lot because they only provide a small condiment bowl.2. Soup: we tried both soups on the menu, the minestrone (seasonal soup option) and the cappelletti in Brodo. We love soups, but both these options were lacking impactful flavor. The broths needed something more, so I would suggest passing on the soups.3. We loved our main courses. We had the chicken marsala and the veal scaloppine. They were both tremendous and saved our experience, to be honest. They came with fresh vegetables. We suggest ordering a size of potatoes or something similar to go with it. We wished we had, but we're big guys.So my 3 stars is based on pretty good risotto balls, mediocre soup, and good main courses.Atmosphere:1. Such a cute restaurant. Long and narrow with open brick walls. Nicely decorated for the holiday season.2. Our waitress was so nice. She was attentive and ensured a pleasant experience.3. Here's the one part we didn't appreciate. The host/maître d' was sitting at the bar in between seating people. It wasn't very busy as we were there at 6pm before a show. He started watching videos on this phone with the volume on full blast. I don't know if he is just that unaware or just doesn't care. Either way, he should be more aware he is impacting the experience of this guests. We were close to the bar and it so SOOOO distracting. It honestly ruined our experience. He did it multiple times throughout our dinner. So my 3 stars is based on a cute restaurant and nice wait staff, but horrible host/maître d'.My 5 stars for service is directed at our pleasant waitress and bus-person who kept our water glasses full without asking.

Truly one of the best meals I’ve ever had. I waited two years to come back for the gnocchi. Wonderful service and atmosphere, it’s a must anytime you’re in Chicago.

We had a great dinner. Started with a martini at the bar. Chatted with the owner who was very nice and engaging. Then went to the table. Had some bread and carpaccio. Both were excellent. I have the veal saltinbocca which was very very good. My partner had the short ribs which he said were excellent. It was a great meal in a nice relaxed atmosphere. I highly recommend a visit.
