I have been taking both of my cats here for just over a year. The staff is so friendly and attentive. The rooms are thoroughly cleaned between visits to prevent disease transmission — I’ve never worried that my cats will pick something up at this location. I like that I can schedule my cats for back to back appointments here and they can be seen basically at the same time with one doctor.Dr. Czerwonky is my preferred vet for the way she has attended to my cats, in particular my cat with asthma, but I’ve honestly had a great experience with other doctors (Dr. Currigan and Dr. Foose) as well.My less healthy cat has completed a dental cleaning under anesthesia here, and the staff sent me updates and photos of her to ensure I knew she was doing well during her procedure. If you’re looking for cat care in Chicago, I highly recommend trying to become a patient with VCA Cat Hospital of Chicago. They all know and love cats. I have never felt pressured to purchase supplements, prescription food, extra procedures, etc. here. I’ve been privileged and fortunate enough to be able to afford all essential care and some more preventative care as well. I personally get some Rx foods for my cats and the approval turnaround (I prefer to buy online) is always speedy with VCA. I also really appreciate the online virtual support that is offered in the VCA app. It’s come in handy when I have more minor questions that don’t warrant a visit. Overall a great experience being a client here for over a year. And get pet insurance BEFORE you go because pet insurance will not cover pre existing conditions or conditions that arise during a waiting period immediately after purchasing a plan (typically 2 weeks to a month). So if you purchase pet insurance at least a month before your appointment here, you are more likely to have care that is eligible for reimbursement. VCA is not “cheap” but that’s because high quality care costs money, especially with the vet/vet tech shortage our country is experiencing. Pet insurance will make the costs more manageable if you find the right plan.

This place is incredible. I took my muffin Mickey there last month and he is a special needs cat. They were very professional and helpful with what Mickey needed. Dr Foose is amazing everyone should go see her. She was gentle with my little boy and she helped show me what I can be doing better to care for my boy. I loved that she was talking to my boy and making him feel comfortable during his exam. He is not the best when it comes to exams but she did great! Thank you Dr Foose and VCA!

My partner and I have taken our cat to 4-5 other vets in the area, and this one is by far the best. They are attentive and detail-oriented and are much more thorough with their exams. Most importantly, they know how to handle cats: where to touch her, how to keep her calm, give her space, keep a spot open for her to hide. Other vets would treat the cat like a dog and stress her out.

VCA is the best! - Friendliest staff, great facilities, excellent customer service, fair pricing, and the medical team has taken such good care of our cat!

This place misdiagnosed my cat and said he had a murmur, when in reality, they never made him stop purring. 3 vets later, and I’ve learned that these guys could have just turned on the sink, to make my little guy stop purring, before listening to him with a stethoscope.Vca is evil , they also own Duke Animal hospital, and almost all other vets in Chicago.

Up through 2023 I would have given high marks but the service and organization as significantly declined. The most recent follow up visit was the clincher to not return. The wrong labs were run and they called to tell me that I had to pay for more labs because they made an error. I, of course, challenged their demand for further payment and stated I wished to speak with the Manager. Wow, what a shock! This person, Cody, demonstrated the worst service imaginable. I actually hung up. And, she called me back and kept verbally attacking me!

Dr. Czerwonky and the staff are wonderful. My kitty had a dental cleaning and I received regular updates and a very clear explanation of how it went and follow up care.Thank you!

I am blown away by the quality of care my cats received at VCA Cat Hospital. I have two nine year old girls who are usually terrified of the vet. The vet techs and the doctors treated my cats with such kindness, empathy, and patience. Everyone at this clinic clearly loves cats and are passionate about providing excellent care.My cats both had to have teeth extracted. During the procedure, I received texts, phone calls, and even pictures of my girls to keep me in the loop and provide me with updates on the status of their procedures. After the procedures were done, Dr. Czerwonky also sat with my husband and I to go over x-rays and pictures to help describe exactly what had been done during the procedure. I really appreciated the transparency and felt confident that my girls had received excellent care.Overall, my experience with VCA was fantastic, even better than most experiences I've had with my own human doctors! I can't recommend them enough.

I have been coming to the Cat Hospital for many years now - my cat is 17+ and I started bringing her here when she was about 5 or so.Here’s the bottom line: everyone I have interacted with, from the vets (especially Dr. D. Thompson!), the techs, and the front desk folks have all treated my cat like she was their own. The care they all give is excellent. It’s all I can ask for.

Horrible experience with cat’s dental. Quoted 700-1100, got a call saying more work needed and it shouldn’t cost more than 1250, finally presented with a 1700 bill! Since it was 8:30 pm and my cat had been there since 7:30 am I was eager to get her home and said I’d call the next day to dispute the charges. My husband noticed that the carrier we brought her in was different than the one we had now. The employee made some comment about my being unsure of the color and did I really know what it looked like? Huh? When speaking with the office manager a few days later she also made a comment about the fact that I was unsure of the color of my carrier. I said I didn’t appreciate her ageist insinuation. When going through the invoice, numerous errors were found like being charged for 4 extractions instead of three, and they knocked off a couple of charges which probably should not have been there to begin with. The attitude was that I was being “difficult” about the carrier and none of the staff would steal one (I never insinuated that they did) and if I wasn’t happy I should find another vet. They also said my cat had a heart murmur. She doesn’t. When I adopted her from PAWS she had a complete physical and nothing was found. My current vet also stated there’s no heart murmur or arthritis(another condition they said she had while offering to sell me products to treat it). This happened in March 2020 by the way but after reading all the glowing reviews I felt I should show another side.

I discovered this place when we took in a stray cat- a totally spontaneous event on a Sunday and no vets were open. Monday morning, I called 10-15 clinics and some politely said they were booked and others flat out were not taking any new clients. I understand there is a labor shortage in the vet industry right now. I tried pleading my case that I had rescued a stray 2 lb kitten and just wanted to get him checked out. The receptionist at VCA Cat Hospital said she would see what she could do. She called me back shortly thereafter and worked me into the schedule. The place is very quiet with a calm vibe and I love that it is a cats only clinic! It is clear that everyone who works there clearly loves cats. Everyone has been very nice and helpful and my kitten even seemed to be having fun at his last visit. I have had a really good experience here so far and it is refreshing!

GOD! I was about to post the nicest review. My cat came here for hyperthyroid treatment. The medicine she was prescribed was recommended to me to be delivered by Wedgewood Pharmacy. As soon as I started giving my cat the medicine from there, she developed severe allergic reactions including scratching at her face and biting at her body. It was horrifying and it seemed like my vet thought nothing of it. We had to switch vets, and the new vet was appalled that she was prescribed antibiotics for itching with no evidence of infection, and her clear signs of allergic reaction were ignored. Of course, we come to find out that the pharmacy issues a recall of our medicine. And we NEVER heard about it from the vet ever, only heard about it from the pharmacy themselves months after she finished the recalled bottle. I'm absolutely disgusted with the treatment my cat received here. Please do not trust these people with your animals. I made the mistake of fully trusting them and my cat suffered so badly because of it.

I highly recommend Cat Hospital. Dr Czerwonky is fantastic and noticed something on the xrays during the dental that turned out to be bone cancer. I really appreciate how good she is at noticing things.Dr Foose is also wonderful. I'm grateful to her for writing two appeal letters to my insurance company when they initially suggested lymphoma was a pre-existing condition. Based on Dr Foose's letters, my insurance agreed to cover lymphoma for both cats which was a big help. She's also very good at making my cats feel at ease.Dr Thompson is also excellent and very wise. She recommended extracting all of my cats teeth during a dental. I didn't want them all extracted though. Later my cat was diagnosed with diabetes and couldn't get a dental until the diabetes was under control. By that time even though it was only a year later, one of the teeth was infected and had pus and the other teeth were also all bad. In hindsight, I wish I had listened to Dr Thompson's advice.Dr Currigan is also great. She did a dental with extractions for Yodel after he was diagnosed with diabetes. It's riskier for cats with diabetes to go under anesthesia but thanks to the good care from Dr Currigan, he pulled through without issues.I really appreciate all the doctors, nurses and staff at Cat Hospital. My cats have some chronic health conditions and they've been very good to me and my cats. I especially appreciate that when I return from the vet, my cats are always very calm and I think it's because it's a fear-free place, so they have good handling techniques and go slowly so my cats are comfortable.

Took our cat here with concerns of her throwing up, refusing food, and losing a significant amount of weight. The vet praised her weight loss and said everything was probably fine except they recommended a $1300 tooth extraction. We decided to go and get a second opinion since we felt our concerns were being ignored. Well the next vet quickly found a cancerous tumor and eventually we had to put her down. Don’t go to VCA. They will recommend whatever is the most expensive thing they have on their list that week, ignore your concerns, and shame you. I will never bring another cat here.
