Will never go to another VCA in my life. My location has shut down, and now I am considered a new patient. While I understand the policy, I dont understand why my cat is being punished for our home location closing. The only reason we have a Care Club membership is for the convenience of being able to come in for checkups. I payed for this months membership and wont even be able to set an appointmnet until NEXT month because wed be a new patient in their system. I can not believe that nothing was done to make this a smooth transition for clients of our old, closed, location. Not the employees fault, but so thoughtless and careless to just drop existing patients. Now for the second time in the last two weeks I need to visit a emergency vet because my cat has no vet that can see him. Despite the monthly membership I have been paying.

I had to take one of my cats here multiple times, and the vets and staff were very kind to him and took good care of him. Special thanks to Dr. Hunt and Dr. Egan for being so kind and gentle with my cat and I.

Well I use to live around the Elston Area (10 yrs ago) and that was the closest vet to me so I decided to give them a call because im having an issue with mt elderly dog who's not doing so well , anyways long story short I gave them a call for a question , I asked them my dogs been vomiting after drinking water and I have been prescribed amoxicillin for him , I just wanted to know if he drinks the medicine through water and possibly throws it up later on will he still get the meds and she said asked if I got the meds from them (VCA) I said no , she said well call the other place you got the meds from. Now I understand the whole thing about it's not their problem since I didn't go through them but right now I just needed help. Im going out of my mind I'm stressed up out , I'm hurt and I'm not doing well. I just needed some HELP That's all , she could've said I'm sorry but I can't give that info out over the phone and I would've accepted that but to tell me to go somewhere else just broke my heart , my dog isn't just my dog he's my son he's my baby and all I wanted was help...

Staff is always sweet and friendly. Never judges our temperamental pup.

Last year it cost $60 for a fecal test. This year it cost $120. They didn't even see my dog. I just dropped off a sample. Insane. All their other prices for basic services have shot up too. I found a new vet that we love with way better pricing. It's just a shame because the staff at VCA has always been so nice.

I had been going to this vet for 5/6 years- I’m one year past the check up for my cats and one of them is having a flare up for something chronic that is on file and has been for years- Because I fell behind one year they won’t refill my prescription without a checkup which can’t be booked for another 2 months- the cost seems to go up each time I visit, ( $117 just for a check up now without any shots meds etc ) I can’t afford to wait and can no longer afford their prices. This vet very much seems to be for profit over pet at this point; It’s very disappointing.

Very caring vet and staff, although they are very difficult to get an appointment, even for urgent matters.

The staff is lovely but they are very expensive and if your pet gets sick, it's extremely difficult to get an appointment; regular appointments are lengthy as well. One vet mis-diagnosed my pet to the tune of almost $400 a month for over three months, And I didn't get a refund for any of it!

Love George the way he cuts our dogs nails - she’s super nervous and we always request him because he calms her down. Our vet is also great. Only knock for the star is its a bit on the expensive side for the trim

Unfortunately after our last visit with a dog of ours we’ve come to the conclusion the wellness visit cost/vaccines are no longer affordable for our family. A 40% increase for a wellness visit exam is shocking as it was $75 in 2022. It’s disappointing that vet care costs like VCA in chicago are pricing out working class families such as mine. Highly recommend checking out your local places in this are. Other private practices charge $80 for wellness exams and $60 for heart worm texts. This place is absolutely exploiting pet care costs.

I found that the treatment at VCA was sub par for the price they charge. The front desk staff (with the exception of Kimmy) is pretty miserable. They wanted $500+ for an X-ray and $114 just for a “exam fee.” Please instead consider Heal on Rockwell. Excellent care, clean facility, at half the price ($72 for an exam fee and $225 for an X-ray). VCA has nothing but the name and their facility on Elston is old and dingy and they care more about charging a fortune than the genuine care of your pet. My cat was in pain and went home with nothing to actually treat the pain, which to me is cruel. There are such better vets out there and I will never consider VCA for any of my pets again.

My cat of just under two years old was diagnosed diabetic to my surprise and shock. Dr. Abens went above and beyond to reply to my messages and make my cat and I comfortable. She handled my cat with care and was very sweet to her. We applied a freestyle libre a few times unsuccessfully but there was no charge every time I returned to have it replaced which was wonderful! Overall, VCA has been very supportive in my cats health! I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else.
