I have been a homeowner for more than 30 years, both private home and investment properties. I have done business with many mortgage lenders. Wintrust is by far the worst experience I have ever had. I took out a 30-year loan a condominium. I had to purchase private mortgage insurance because I did not put the minimum 20% down. Within two years, I paid off roughly half the mortgaged amount. Within three years, I paid off two-thirds of the total mortgage amount. I contacted the company to request that private mortgage be dropped, which is in line with standards. I was told that I needed to pay for an appraisal on a property despite a balance of less than a third of the original mortgage amount. Mind you that the property, located in the heart of downtown Chicago, was appraised just three years earlier. Obviously, the value of such a property had not dropped but increased from the original mortgaged amount. Yet they insisted that I pay for a new appraisal. I chose a better option for spending my money, to pay the balance off in full and be done with Wintrust. There are other issues, too numerous to share, I had with my interactions with Wintrust. Needless to say, dealing with Wintrust taught me a lesson. Never do business with a company that is not customer friendly and do the research before doing business with them. To add insult to injury, I went online as I normally do to pay off the balance of the mortgage. I could not access the account. I called the company to request the payoff amount. I was not able to do that, Rather I was directed to email or fax the payoff request. Nightmare from start to finish. Based on my experience, I would suggest to anyone to avoid Wintrust at all costs.

Thank you Brian Rategan for your response! Once again you can't explain how I paid $27,558.82 (see photos) to interest in 2016. Special payments of $4,156.58 and $25,872.80, where did the funds go??? You can stand by your lie as long as you want, it's still a Lie!! (FRAUD)The documents I posted are from Wintrust.

Wintrust, iFreedom Direct Corp, Veterans First mortgage, Mr Cooper I kid you not these are just a few of the alias this corporation has. My strong suggestion is just do not do business with this group of shysters you've read the other reviews after 7 yrs on a 30 year mortgage. I''m paying to go to a 15 year note with Navy federal. They service the loans they originate. These are a bunch of poorly educated unsupervised card plating ciga smoking beer drinking idiots ain't that right Mr Wehmer I"m still trying to figure out if Eddie or Stan wears the dress in the office. Stay clear this really is a corrupt bunch.

The majority of 1 star reviews for this abysmal company really says it all. I was trying to assist my client with having her VA loan assumed by her home purchaser, and encountered nothing but rude, inept staff at every turn. One even hung up on me after arguing with me, insisting she was not being rude with her "can't do" attitude. Each person I spoke to had a different answer for why, but they all seemed to reach the same "can't do" conclusion. The amount of incorrect information they spewed was mind boggling. You have a choice, I implore you to steer clear of this incompetent company. Let other's experience be your warning!

I can tell you right now that if Wintrust Mortgage/Veterans First got more than 1 star it's from their lazy, lying a** staff! These people will stress you out with their cons to keep your money. Nobody knows what the hell they are doing at this company. Please I'm begging you to skip this company and find one that knows what it takes to have a good relationship with their borrowers. I'm a 100% disabled veteran, in the state of Texas. You are exempt from paying property taxes. Today is 11/04/2022. We closed on our house in August. Our first payment was the 10/01/2022. They sent the loan statement with of course the taxes included in it. I mailed them a check for the mortgage on time without the taxes. Don't you know that these cons said that they were not going to apply the money to my account because I didn't pay the taxes. Then they have the nerve to charge a late fee. Now tee-hee to them because I sent the check with a signature delivery confirmation which they signed 3 days before the payment was late! They were sent the paperwork from the county telling them that we were exempt. These incompetent as people are still trying to make us pay taxes. They all read off of the same script card and you can never speak to a supervisor because they don't have one. They don't have a fax machine, I can't wait until these rates go down so that I can get the hell away from these thieves. They really need to be investigated because they are corrupt. So Now they have transferred our va loan to another one of their companies. WTH? This is the 3rd transfer that the have done since I refused to pay them taxes that I am exempt from paying! They are the most greedy, unethical, unprofessional, incompetent bunch of liars I have ever know and that a lot coming from me who worked at a prison for 8 years. I'm also still waiting on my check that they still are holding on to like it's theirs! Skip this company and especially if you are looking for a loan company that's not full of s**** I have to give them 1 star because of the site. If it was left up to me I would leave a crap pile next to them!

Worst experience of my life, they are incompetent and unprofessional. Whatever you do do not waste your ti.e especially with Jennifer Bender Mls# 987313, she was the worst with communication. She caused us to lose a property deal by making mistakes. Re apping multiple times, lied multiple times about closing dates and she became rude when i reached out to her manager about her incompetence

Absolutely the worst experience!.. Adam McLain took a little over 5 months to write my loan. Although he professes to be an expert, his actions do not in any way exhibit that end. I was lied to continually and the response was “ your loan is difficult” He does however claim that he can work with unconditional financing and circumstances which I later learned is not true.. I would not recommend him to refi a dog house.. so run .. don’t walk..

Embarrassingly bad and unprofessional. The initial inquiry was met with rude and pushy responses. Do you really think that people like that?

Dealing with Wintrust mortgage has caused us stress and anxiety, the underwriters seem to be clueless, they lose paperwork and keep asking for documentation and it seems that they have no intentions on approving our loan, our closing day is today and I feel like the loan still wont be approved, as a first time home buyer this has been excruciating. Wintrust could care less if you are going to be homeless, they take their time and once you give them everything they ask for , they ask for something else. My review is in line with all of the other one star reviews, we are going through the same issues so if I were you I would look elsewhere for a mortgage. This experience has been a total turn off and I'm about to call an attorney because there is something else going on here that needs to be addressed.

If you want to deal with a bank that will run your credit and NEVER get back to you after numerous phone calls and emails go with Wintrust. Worst customer service EVER!! And took a hard hit on my credit because of them after dealing with a forbearance and layoff due to Covid. I had to find out from another lender what the issue was, apparently if you've had any issues from Covid they will disregard you and not even provide the courtesy of getting back to you.

Really disappointing experience. Early on we were working with Meagan Quinn. We had asked for multiple loan estimates on different properties with different product types. Being first time buyers and not quite understanding what our best loan option was, we wanted to see each scenario and what it looked like. We appreciated her effort very much. It seems she got tired of assisting us because she simply stopped responding. Both myself and our realtor sent multiple emails. We just had an offer accepted on a property. Sent her an email one last time to say that we appreciated her help early on and would like to go with her as our lender if she could send over a competitive loan estimate. Still no response. This is extremely unprofessional. Extremely. If you know longer want to work with a client because you got frustrated at them asking for too much help (this is what I assumed happened?)... reply to us or to Our realtor to say you are no longer interested in being the loan provider. End of story. To ignore or ‘ghost‘ people offering up their business is wrong.

Horrible experience Christina Pinson and Kelly price ran my application and credit and I didn’t hear a word back from either one of them. Worst experience ever since I am a first time home buyer. Kelly price told me all these good things about how she was going to help me, but I kept getting her voicemail over and over. A month went by and still nothing. Don’t go here waste of time !!!
