Uhaul gives no help in loading a car on to the dolly. They did help hook up the dolly. It took us 1.5 hours to hook up our car in the cold. No one gave us any advice or told us to bring de-icer for the straps which were too frozen to get in the slots. it was a NIGHTMARE. We ended up buying some vinegar and sticking the straps in the car door and putting on the air while the car was up on the dolly to thaw the straps. The BP doesn't even carry de-icer in Chicago. So bad when you run a Uhaul business. it's obvious this happends to all the straps in the winter. But they dont care. It was our problem. We also had to go to a different place to get the truck from where we reserved it. That apparently is often the case. And then the dolly was at a different location. So we had to go to one to pick up the truck. Then take the truck to another location to get the dolly. Then we had to go back to get our car from the first location. So it took us HOURS to get out of town just because of all of this. And if you return the truck early, you get nothing. There aren't really many places to rent trucks from so that is probably why they are not caring a whole lot about the customer. Kind of like when you get to the airport, you are stuck with the junky food and you pay too much for it. But it is cheaper than full movers, so that's the only reason why I would suggest someone use it. But adding up the gas and the rental, hotels, time lost at work and such you sure dont save much. And the 26' truck got 7!!! miles to the gallon. It was crazy how much we spent on gas. Just nuts. So overall was it cheaper than movers? not much. I wouldn't say the employees are not nice. They are. But they are "not trained" to help out getting a car ON the dolly at least at the Cicero location where i had to go to get the truck and then come back for my car later. The dolly was attached by the uhaul at the Midway location. We were so nervous about the car we had to do ourselves. We watched youtube videos sitting in the truck over and over so we didn't make a mistake. Make sure you watch the FIRST two that come up. Not just the first one I think that one is by Uhaul and it's not great. It was so cold out and the straps were FROZEN. Bring de-icer and gloves no matter what if it's winter. And if you dont hook up that car properly, someone will get hurt if that car comes off the dolly and more likely someone will die. It's so dangerous to have the general public hook up a car to that thing. I can't believe Uhual is allowed to leave us on our own. We were stressed the whole way. But every time we got gas we tightened the straps. It was scary though. We were so amazing that Uhaul doesn't help more and do more. But they can get away with doing the bare minimum I guess.

If I could give 0 stars I would.I’m so upset, this place is robbing people by adding more miles than you actually drove.I paid for my van & made my way to do what I needed and returned it in 2 hours. I only used 5 miles because everything was in the area.I get a final receipt saying I owe them $90 because of 100 MILES I apparently used. I called so many times to talk to the manager and no one wants to give me any names or who this person is. I’ve been trying to get this resolved for 2 weeks now and the manager has been saying it should be done and fixed. I call again and now they’re still working on it? And putting me on hold for 30 mins to even speak to this person.I would NEVER recommend this spot to anyone, they are robbing people & the manager is scared to talk to anyone knowing they will get chewed up.

I didn't want to add safemode cover on my reservation, and I surely made sure that the assistant at the desk to remove the coverage. However it's showing on my reservation details and added charges. When I confront the staff, I was told that I will be able to fix with the link that she will be texting. But when I checked, it had no option to edit/cancel the coverage. I called the location to get help, she put me on hold and after quite time, she eventually said I have to bring the truck back start the new rental process. I am already in motion of moving as it was scheduled, and it does not make sense that I will be wasting time to go back and forth and be charged for the mistake she made. I've used uhaul several times already, but this incident it's not acceptable or fair. The service was not helpful nor efficient as it took way longer than any other uhaul locations I have been.

The reviews are right, this place is terrible. Almost had bed bugs in my new place from this uhaul!! Also, customer service is lacking. I got treated differently because of the color of my skin. If I had the resources to sue, I would.

This was the single worst customer service experience I have ever had in my life. We arrived 45 minutes after our pickup time (the automated confirmation email specifically stated arrive whenever the day of pickup) only to be told that our reservation was cancelled. The front desk woman proceeded to assign us a van that we had not reserved and stated that they would not rent us the cargo van even though there was one in the lot (the one that we had reserved months ago). Overall seems almost like a scam, beware of renting online, the actual store will apply their own rules however they see fit

Orlando installed my hitch, like a PRO! My car and hitch wasn't as straightforward as we both originally expected, but given his expertise he GOT THE JOB DONE! I cannot speak highly enough about him and his professionalism. I would not want anyone else but him to do the install. He's a cool person too!

Mr. Orlando is super professional in hitch installation and wire troubleshooting. I installed my hitch at U-Haul uptown location, I think the guy didn’t check if the wire is okay before returning the vehicle to me. Then I failed the pre-tow inspection at U-Haul south loop. Fortunately, Mr. Orlando at U-Haul Cicero fixed the wire issue for me. Thank you so much!

They called us to say the original vehicle we requested wasn't available because the previous user extended. Fine. Then they called again to ask us if we still wanted the rental period because "there were a lot of requests". The young lady didn't even care to look up the reservation. Thankfully we had just pulled up and picked up our original request, a passenger van. It was a rainy day so I'm sure no one wanted pickups but that wasn't our problem, we didn't request a pickup. The rep was more concerned with getting a new order reserved than fulfilling ours. F rude, don't use this location.

Literally no Costumer service. Walked in wanting to rent a box truck and waited 10 minutes till I had to leave because there was no one able to help me the store was empty.

Made appointment on a Sunday to get a hitch installed to get there they don't have the parts. No one called to say dont come down and waste your day. It was supposed to get scheduled for following sunday get their and parts still ain't their once again no one called me another sunday wasted.
