The Dole Farmer's Market is great.Simple Bakery is amazing for the cinnamon rolls and fresh bread.PastaBar is essential, especially for their fresh pasta and sauces.
The Dole Mansion is a historic civil-war era landmark built in 1865 by Charles S Dole who was a grain merchant & had an ice harvesting business. In 1922, the Mansion was purchased by Eliza "Lou" Ringling (of the circus fame) along with her investment partners, and the Crystal Lake Country Club was established. An addition was completed in 1925, which offered 44 guest suites in this new wing, so members could stay over night, or the whole summer! Unfortunately, it closed in 1938 due to the Depression. The entire Dole property is now used as a place for the community to gather. Lakeside 4th of July Festival, Farmers Market+, Live Music in Lou's Lounge, NMP 4th Fridays Art Shows, plus many school & other non-profit fundraisers.
