If you or a loved one are dealing with mental illness, I cannot suggest this free service more. They've been a great service for many years, and I cannot thank them enough.

Amazing organization. If you or anyone you know struggles with their mental health NAMI McHenry Co. is an excellent resource. NAMI 's services are always free.

NAMI is such a great resource and organization. I found out about NAMI from the IOP program at Northwestern (Centegra)Woodstock. They have so many different classes and groups for those who need it free of charge. The WRAP class is an 8 week course that prepares you for a mental health crisis. You write a plan for when you're getting symptomatic and need help. You'll write out your tools that you can use, support and other things. They also offer peer to peer services where you can talk to a specialist one on one if that works better for you instead of groups or you can do both. James is a specialist and he's absolutely fantastic! There's a family support group also for those who deal with a friend or family member with as mental illness and they teach you how to deal with them and give you support because it can be hard. So having other people that are in the same position as you can really help. There's also expressive therapy or an art class which I've actually been fortunate enough to be able to go. The instructor Kimberly is amazing! She's very knowledgeable and comes up with great ideas! If you or anybody you know are in need of help or support with a mental illness I highly recommend getting a hold of your local NAMI office.
