Smilga is a low-key but authentic and amazing Lithuanian restaurant, shop, and bakery. It is described as the best Lithuanian restaurant ever, with incredible, delicious, and super tasty food. Standout dishes include the amazing mushroom soup, chicken cutlet with mashed potatoes and mushroom sauce, chicken kiev, and beef stew. The mashed potatoes are noted as some of the best. Portions are massive, generous, very filling, and the sweets are very good. They also offer Dadu ice cream. The service is fabulous, amazing, friendly, kind, and helpful, with staff going above and beyond. The hospitality is phenomenal. The atmosphere is perfect for young kids, as it is accommodating to children with toys set out for them. The business also includes a mini grocery store and deli on site, featuring many homemade, fresh, and homemade products. Some recommendations from reviewers include improving online presence and social media, adding more photos of the dishes to the menu or via a QR code, and considering extended weekday hours. Everytime I come I try something new on the menu and it never disappoints! My toddler loves the kitchen play area! Great selection of Lithu food as well!

Great Lithuanian food. Portions are good. Almost as good as my Grandmothers cooking which I miss dearly.

I have been a regular here for over half my life, on of the last places left in Chicago that does Lithuanian food right. Every bite brings back memories of my mama and my močiutė cooking for me.
