UPDATE: I took the advice of the owner and decided to try again. I'm thinking I should have tried sooner, as suggested, because not only was the parking lot total chaos, but the employee i encountered, who, I might add, I was actively, willfully and purposely attempting to avoid by using my credit card at the pump, acted nothing less than hostile toward me all because I moved a garbage can that was blocking me in. I moved it no more than a good 8 inches, not with the intention of unlocking any deep seated, childhood emotional trauma in the employee, but rather to avoid the destruction of the property of Thornton's and that of other customers. This dude feels the need to scream at me which only prolongs my stay, which then upsets the other customer who's car I now wish I'd have gone ahead and taken the rear view mirror out of because HE'S yelling at me too but your guy never once tells HIM to "just back up" when all could've been avoided if only your guy had had the professionalism and wherewithall to just wait 10 seconds and then scoot the stupid trash can back in everybody's way. Idk what kind of people do the hiring here but I'd bet my sweet behind they are bad judges of character, if that's even a factor taken into consideration here. There is customer service and there is the responsibility of representing a company. Thornton's on Mound obviously cares nothing of either one but I'll keep going there. I won't give them a dime but everyone needs an example of how not to treat their customers as this place is a gold mine.
No matter the day, no matter the time, no matter the time of day, Thornton's on Mound Rd will always provide the type of cashier with a knack for making you feel like you probably shouldn't have bothered even rolling out of bed that day. Ask yourself, is a gallon of gas or a fountain drink worth being treated like the hugest burden Satan has ever set upon humanity?

Last year, I was able to go to this Thornton's carwash every Friday...
This year, I have maybe been able to use it 2-4 times... it's always closed... why?
Sure, there are other car washes, but they are all out of my way & the Rainstorm Carwash is not Touch-free.
Please fix this!

They recently went to prepay at all pumps, but I've had issues with my card. I'm prompted to pay inside. I go inside and I'm told I need to give a dollar range. Then go back outside, then come back in again. I'll gladly go to Sam's down the road since it's about the same price or cheaper. Thorntons used to be my favorite, but I want to get in and out with the least amount of hassle.
