If I could give zero stars I would. Incompetent people. I would not trust them to do service on my vehicle. Was quoted 4 different prices for a simple oil change. Horrible customer service.

I recently scheduled a premium oil change and tire rotation for my mom at this shop, advertised at $69.99. They told me the total is ~$75 as I tried to pay over the phone but couldn't.
When my mom arrived, they tried to charge her $100. However, they ended up charging her $79 and didn't even perform the tire rotation.
When I called to discuss the discrepancy and requested a refund for the service that was not provided, the staff was unhelpful and refused to issue a refund. Instead, they insisted that my mom bring the car back in for service. I asked why my mom would come back if they tried to overcharge the first time. This is unacceptable and unprofessional. Said the only option I had was to call my credit card company.

I went in for a scheduled appointment for a routine oil change on time! I ended up with a $278 bill and now realize that I was literally scammed. I asked for my front headlight bulbs be changed and I brought them it with me as my son had brought them for me to use, I was told that the whole front bumper had to be taken off to replace my bulbs which wasn’t true as they changed it before and had documentation, I watch the technician placed the bulb on the driver’s side and the bumper wasn’t taken off, he never changed the other side as the bulb is still in my car, he then replaced lug on my tire on the passenger side total of 3, and I wasn’t ASKED TO REPLACE THEM, WHY? Before anything is done to your car and replaced the customer should be ASKED, I had 4 new tires replaced there at Midas, all my brakes done, multiple car fixtures at this Midas and spent more than a couple of thousand dollars, now I remember that every time I went there something was always found wrong. I will never know if things were actually wrong as when you trust the place you’ve given business too, things should actually be wrong, like I said I will never know, but after this past week experience and me out of 278 dollars for and oil change and headlights bulb replacement, this will be my last venture to Midas, I absolutely will not go back, CUSTOMERS BE AWARE WHEN YOU TRUST MIDAS ON OAKTON IN DES PLAINES.NICE CUSTOMER SERVICE. HOW CAN THEY SLEEP AT NIGHT AFTER SCAMMING PEOPLE. ALL I KNOW IS THAT KARMA WILL EVENTUALLY GET THEM.

I don't enjoy giving one star.
I understand people need to make a living and perhaps Midas has a new more corporate approach to their business practices.
But with said, Stay Away.
Things have definitely changed there.
They are hard selling repairs and services that aren't needed/necessary.
For example we brought our car in to have the AC recharged/repaired.
On the Marquee it said $25.00 off ac service. We agreed to a thermostat change, a radiator flush with new hoses etc. and they never repaired the air conditioning which is the main reason why we brought the car in! Then, for this incomplete work they actually charged us almost $800.
We brought it in once again, telling them that the AC is not working and they gave us another estimate for almost $800 to do the repair!
They finally did the ac recharge which is what we originally wanted done in the first place. And although we already paid for it at our first visit, they said they would do it for "free" after quite a bit of unfortunate haggling.
Another example of hard selling is they told us that our oil pan is leaking. So we put on a huge piece of cardboard under our car in our garage and weeks have gone by and we never had one drop of oil!
There are plenty of excellent auto repair places in Des plaines.
If they say you'll be waiting 30 minutes, you'll be there 3 hours also btw.
Once again, just Stay Away.

Karlo gave me a fair estimate for my AC service. He explained what was needed and no hidden costs were added. Service was prompt and efficient. Highly recommend.

So I go in for an oil change, that I scheduled online. I checked in and was only discussing a tire situation....I bought new tires 9 months ago and the place didn't reconnect my PSI sensors so I wanted to see if they could do that for me...I didn't think anything of it because my main reason for being there was oil change. Minutes later I was asked if I was there for an oil change lol umm yep. Ok so my car gets brought in and put up in the rack. The dude working on it stared at my right front tire spraying, wiping, spraying, wiping, outer part of tire wall to then the underneath the car side of the tire wall. For at least 15 minutes, at least, looking all confused. Calls me in "to show me something" shows me some bubbles on the underneath side of the tire. Tells me on impact I ruined the wall lining and it needs to be resealed. Excuse me on impact? Did you take my car for a joy ride and hit something because I've never had a car accident in this car. Or any car for that matter. Mind you these tires are also about 9 months old. The bubbles I'm looking at are iridescent as if the spray coming from the bottle was actually bubbles. So I said no I'm good. Yes I've skimmed my front bumper on the parking blocks occasionally so the paint is scuffed but that's the most impact I've ever had and never once has that happened since I've gotten the new tires put on. As I'm under my car I look up cause gross I don't want anything falling on my head. They're were no wires or plastic things hanging, nothing! So I go sit back down so he can now do the oil change. He's all done, front desk guy tells me I need a new sensor for back left tire and resealing of the right front tire. I'm already feeling lied to so I say no. I pay for oil change and 30 minutes of the guy staring at only 1 tire for at least 15 minutes. I leave, go home which is about 1 mile, I look under my car and I now have 2 things hanging from the front end of my car right where the guy was hanging out the entire time!!! Really, so after I walk away you mess with my car so I need to come back so you can scam me some more. Don't go there!! Liars. Funny you go to these type of places and you ask for help. They may help you with one thing but you'll be back within days for them to fix what they helped cause a problem of to bring you back in for more business. Never will I go back and I will stick with private, honest auto places. Wish my guy Nicko in Des Plaines still did oil changes. Never had any issues and always 100% honest with me about everything!

The guy at the desk was very knowledgeable and explained everything to me in detail. I really like that they do a full inspection of the car. Told me everything I needed to know about the things that needed to be fixed and gave me estimates.

I was referred to this shop by the technician named Mark R when I was at a gas station broke down! And I have to say, It was soo nice to finally find a place I can trust! As a woman, it’s hard to find mechanics that won’t rip us off or lie about services needed! I was welcomed as I walked in the door, and mentioned what problems I was having with my car. The manager Karlo was so helpful and respectful, and I was told they will inspect the car for me to let me know what they find. I was nervous at first, but I got a text message with a fully detailed inspection of my car! It had pictures of what was found, notes of what condition things were currently in and what was recommended to be done! I don’t think I have ever had this type of service! Thank you guys!!! Wish I could give more than 5 ⭐️

My new favorite shop hands down! I was quoted some ridiculous price by the dealer for front suspension, alignment and some other work needed. I came in and was greeted and welcomed in by Mark, and was helped with service by Karlo at the front counter who were both extremely helpful and courteous! I sat in the waiting area and enjoyed some of the free coffee while they performed the inspection of my car to confirm what was needed. A few minutes later I received an email with the inspection showing pictures and proof of what was really needed and the price was wayyyy better than I expected! A for effort and quality service!

Great service and friendly and knowledgeable staff! I was greeted by the manager Karlo, and had the oppoortunity of meeting the technician Mark R. who was going to be servicing my vehicle. I was also given a digital inspection through text and was able to view the work needed for my car after I left because I dropped it off for service! Fair prices and great work!

Went in for a interview. Everything went well. Was told I would receive benefits package via email. Been almost 2 weeks. Owner won't answer any calls. I quit my job that next day....

Using them for my second car now. We fix most items ourselves, but for the bigger fixes I feel very confident and comfortable with the shop. I appreciate having a shop I can trust to work on my autos.

I like this place, I trust these guys. It's never fun to get car work done...but they tell you what's most necessary and are honest about what your car needs (EVENTUALLY). You also can earn reward points w/Midas now and every bit helps for me!!
