I rented a car from Avis in Downers Grove for 3 days. They maintain their cars really well, and Cornell is awesome. He provided plenty of options to choose from and made my drive enjoyable.Thanks to cornel ,I highly recommend it here.

Absolutely garbage experience. Firstly, my booking started at 8am, which is when the store is supposed to open. They leisurely strolled in at like 8 20. There were other customers waiting as well. They do not value anyone's time. They also do not allow parking your car there while you use the rental.They also tried to cheat and fleece me in my opinion. The car was reserved by my sister using her corporate discount leisure code. This code is explicitly meant to be used for non-business purposes and family members are allowed to use it. After strolling in 20 minutes into my booking, and when we're setting up the paperwork, he asks me for proof of employment at the company. I make it clear that the reservation was made by my sister and she's not present at the moment, However I can get her proof of employment in a bit once I contact her. The guy says that's fine if i can show that when i drop the car off, otherwise he would charge me the non discounted amount. I asked him specifically what the non discounted amount would be but he didn't give me a response.When I returned the car, I showed him my sister's ID, and he started accusing me of committing fraud. that I was illegally using someone else's discount code for my own purposes. to make it clear, the code we used was a leisure code that can be used by family members. We cleared it up with Avis later on, however this man was adamant that we were doing something illegal and was gonna charge us $150 for the minivan that we rented. (a number that he was suspiciously unwilling to give that morning). he claimed that's the "normal price" for the minivan. This is another blatant lie. You can go to the avis website right now and see for yourself that you can rent the van for $114 or $104 if you prepay. I think the $150 number was completely made up by him and he was basically using legal jargon to try and frighten us into paying whatever bogus amount he wanted from us. After huffing and fuming about our illegal activity, when i said i wanted to leave and i wanted a bill, he took another 15 minutes to get a bill ready. no doubt trying to find every single thing he could upcharge us for.We called avis later on and explained the situation and they agreed to refund the charge that this man tried to steal from us. This is the best evidence i have that the man running the counter was lying to us about the "illegal activity" and "fraud". They confirmed that the use of the code was valid and they agreed to only charge me the $63 which was the original booking price with the code.I would highly recommend that if you absolutely have to use Avis/Budget, go to a different location and stay away from this trash dump of a franchise.

I highly recommend this downers grove location. I went today to pick up a car reservation was made for 12noon, Ben the owner and operator was very pleasant and nice I was able to pick up the car as early as 9am.( I did call ahead and ask prior ). I was in and out in less that 20 minutes. Ben answered all questions and was very informative. Very pleasant experience. Thank you.

They are never ready. They have the worst computer system. The store smells like mold and smoke. Rarely do they have friendly or helpful staff

Every time we book a vehicle at this location, we are never disappointed. They are kind, helpful, and always go above and beyond to help with our rental. We receive a phone call a day or two ahead of time to confirm we are picking up the rental vehicle, we appreciate the reminder. We would highly recommend this Avis location! The staff is amazing.

If you want to rent a car for a reasonable price, this is the place for you! However, if you actually enjoy customer service, avoid this location. At the end of the day, I have experienced better customer service at the DMV. I didn't even get a hello, when I entered the front office. After waiting 20 minutes for the agent to handle some personal business, I was finally acknowledged. When I was acknowledged she says... "Name?" Then she asked for my credit card, my license. She didn't confirm the cost of the rental, or any other pertinent information. She made me initial a contract, and handed me some keys. I suppose was expected to guess which car I was renting. I waited for a moment to give her a chance to tell me which car I would be taking. When she didn't say anything, I finally just asked her. She said the name of the vehicle and pointed in its direction... I guess you get what you pay for. #Imissenterprise

I'm a lil late but I have to Shout Out VICKKKYYYYY!!! ?? She Came Through in a Pinch Despite being Stressed to the Max!! She went out of her way to Make Sure I wasn't Stranded even though she "technically" had no cars available and had Literally been running around to other locations trying to find some alll day!! Knowing that as a Truck Driver I'd been dropped off there to pick up my car she worked her Magic and I will be Forever Grateful!!

Got a call the day before my rental saying that the car would be at least 1.5 hours late and to call before coming to pick up the car. No number left. The listed number often connects to Avis's general customer service number, which will tell you they have a car waiting for you. They do not. When I finally got connected with the location, I was told it would be at least another 2 hours late. Eventually got the car and it was mostly fine, but don't book here if you don't have a flexible schedule.

They waited until every avis in area was closed, 17 hrs before my reservation pick up time, to call and say they had no car for us. 17 reservations and only 5 cars so I was getting bumped. The stress and anxiety that caused me was unreal due to the importance of having a car. I'm thankful for the reservation manager, Frank, for transferring my reservation to a nearby location that could accommodate my reservation because the counter folks were simply going to cancel my reservation without offering any solution or accommodation, I was just going to be SOL. Still very frustrating that they took a reservation they couldn't accommodate so I'm sure to not attempt business with this location again. I'll stick to my Hyatt hotel location cause those guys are AMAZING! Teach me to go somewhere new! Stick to what yah know when you got a good thing!!! And that is certainly not this location.

Went here for a rental car for a customer. The customer dropped the car off at 2:00 as they closed at 1:00 on Saturdays. Looked for a after hours drop box and they did not have any such drop off. The customer kept the key not knowing what the procedure was for dropping off, and returned at 8am when they reopened Tuesday after the memorial day holiday on Monday which Avis was closed for. Instead of helping the customer out and understanding the situation. The manager Ben insisted they should have walked around to the back of the building and dropped it in a unmarked mailbox to avoid additional charges. The total for a 1 day rental came to over $700 dollars. Terrible customer service and communication, unfortunately we will not be using this location again and will not refer customers to this location.
