Sharing an experience that happened to us in 2013. We bought a jar of jam here at Bombay Bazar which was displayed as being on sale. The screw on lid had a prominent and colourful price tag pasted across it. We should have noticed that something was off as the brand was unheard of and the advertises price was 1.99$. A couple of months down the line, after consuming half the jar, I pulled off the price tag sticker from the lid and was astounded to see the best before date on the jam was 2002. That’s a good 11 years after I purchased the jam! I confronted the owner back then but he shrugged his shoulders, asking to provide proof of purchase. Deceitful and disgusting to say the least. Hope nobody else have had a similar experience.

Beware. The store is infested with mice. I found mice droppings on the shelves next to the rice. There was a mouse trap on the ground at the end of the aisle.
Mice are very nasty critters. They burrow into food, urinate and defecate on everything. I would strong advise that you don't shop there.
When I saw the droppings, I turned around and left. I turned and saw a mom, dad, and child leaving with their groceries. I felt so bad for anyone who is actually eating the food they buy there, who are unaware of the infestation.
The owners should do the right thing and close the store, empty all the shelves, inspect everything, make sure the rodents are completely eliminated, and totally clean everything before reopening.

I do not write negative reviews unless it is really bad.
When I first visited the store I was happy that I don't need to go all the way to Naperville for Indian groceries. But after I bought from the store and used the products I found out that they are really bad. Prices are almost the same as we pay at other stores but the quality is very poor. Instead of returning the expired products, they mix them in between so that costumers who don't check the expiration date pick them up. And the quality of items on sale is not even edible. Eg I purchased a pack of bhakhri which was buy 2 get one off and luckily my daughter wanted to eat so I opened one pack and we tried it and it was really bad. I also bought sabudana which was on discount and no matter what I do they do not soften. Then once I ran out of chapati flour so I called and they said the Laxmi sharbati aata is 24.99$ but is on discount for 18.99$. I got the same aata for 13.99$ at indiaCo.
Please do NOT get lured into their discounts and stop buying from this store as you are paying the same amount of money for bad quality products.
I hope that the store gets close based on the amount of expired products they have in there.

When you raise your prices for no reason that is called price gouging and it is illegal.

Store having a price descripencies Price of Vadilal Classic Muska Bun have a price and Tag says $1.79. Cashier was charging $1.99. When show her price, still not agreeing neither gave. Left without buying. It's not question of just .20 cents but it's a business ethics. As a business owner I know how to respect customers and pricing of products. It's many other Indian stores we can go. Trying to help our own community store. Lost our business and now either goes to Patel Brothers or Ambica or Indiaco.

I have been customer for 6+ yrs. Store quality has gone down terribly in past year or so. Always have to check expiry of products on shelf.Recently is last straw: I got haldiram tandoori roti frozen (not expired per package date) with *mold* on it. I called and asked if I can return it and other frozen food I had purchased at the same time. I texted pictures of purchase receipt and moldy rotis on their request and got no reply. When I called, they didn’t answer my call. For 10$ you have lost a regular customer forever. I will now be doing my shopping at Ambica on 75th and woodridge or Patel brothers.

Bought two frozen packages of kachoris, all were broken inside, shells had come out, the second package also felt like they were all broken. This can only happen when there is freezer issues, they might have been left out or something. This can also cause health hazard. Freezer items not to be trusted from this store.
