Absolutely garbage experience. Firstly, my booking started at 8am, which is when the store is supposed to open. They leisurely strolled in at like 8 20. There were other customers waiting as well. They do not value anyone's time. They also do not allow parking your car there while you use the rental.They also tried to cheat and fleece me in my opinion. The car was reserved by my sister using her corporate discount leisure code. This code is explicitly meant to be used for non-business purposes and family members are allowed to use it. After strolling in 20 minutes into my booking, and when we're setting up the paperwork, he asks me for proof of employment at the company. I make it clear that the reservation was made by my sister and she's not present at the moment, However I can get her proof of employment in a bit once I contact her. The guy says that's fine if i can show that when i drop the car off, otherwise he would charge me the non discounted amount. I asked him specifically what the non discounted amount would be but he didn't give me a response.When I returned the car, I showed him my sister's ID, and he started accusing me of committing fraud. that I was illegally using someone else's discount code for my own purposes. to make it clear, the code we used was a leisure code that can be used by family members. We cleared it up with Avis later on, however this man was adamant that we were doing something illegal and was gonna charge us $150 for the minivan that we rented. (a number that he was suspiciously unwilling to give that morning). he claimed that's the "normal price" for the minivan. This is another blatant lie. You can go to the avis website right now and see for yourself that you can rent the van for $114 or $104 if you prepay. I think the $150 number was completely made up by him and he was basically using legal jargon to try and frighten us into paying whatever bogus amount he wanted from us. After huffing and fuming about our illegal activity, when i said i wanted to leave and i wanted a bill, he took another 15 minutes to get a bill ready. no doubt trying to find every single thing he could upcharge us for.We called avis later on and explained the situation and they agreed to refund the charge that this man tried to steal from us. This is the best evidence i have that the man running the counter was lying to us about the "illegal activity" and "fraud". They confirmed that the use of the code was valid and they agreed to only charge me the $63 which was the original booking price with the code.I would highly recommend that if you absolutely have to use Avis/Budget, go to a different location and stay away from this trash dump of a franchise.

They are never ready. They have the worst computer system. The store smells like mold and smoke. Rarely do they have friendly or helpful staff

Got a call the day before my rental saying that the car would be at least 1.5 hours late and to call before coming to pick up the car. No number left. The listed number often connects to Avis's general customer service number, which will tell you they have a car waiting for you. They do not. When I finally got connected with the location, I was told it would be at least another 2 hours late. Eventually got the car and it was mostly fine, but don't book here if you don't have a flexible schedule.

Good car. Able to get with debit card easily.Have had bad experiences with other rental agencies not at an airport. Budget Rental on Ogden Ave. Downers Grove Illinois. Went above and beyond to to satisfy me. Budget didn't send the premium car I asked for but the personal service of these independent owners took care of me.

This place is super small, and it’s what I love about it. The Agent and Owner really cares. A few times cars were returned late so my rental wasn’t ready and they’ve always worked to make it work. Their dedication to keep their customers is uncanny.I was recently there and a driver came back upset bc there was a tiny ding from a rock in the windshield (which to me almost seemed like he got while driving and that’s why he was so irate) so I was checking in and I said be happy to take that car. The agent was so beyond relieved. There’s already a shortage of workers, people need to take a step back a breathe.

NEVER RENT FROM THIS PLACE!!! They gave me a car that had bulging tire and then charged me $220 for getting road assistance to change it so I could drive back and get another car. Other car was a beat up sedan with paint markings all over and tires even worse than the first one. When I refused it she gave me a smaller sedan and did not even offer any discount until I asked. So after all this trouble we left for our trip 4 hours late and then I had to spend 2 hours on the phone with corporate office to get the refund for $220. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!

I book d car for this location always and d lady was always helpful and she always do d best to get me a car. First time I left my car in there parking lot in d front and pick up there car on Tuesday Evening may 3rd and today I drop there car back and drive my car from there parking lot.15 minutes later I come to knw I have a RAT in my car that came from there parking lot bcoz there parking lot is so dirty and bushy. I call them up and explain to them wht happened to my car and guy whose name is Ben work there said nothing I can do and hang up on me... plz never ever leave ur car there and finally we caught d RAT. Bcoz I m sacred of RATS and I ask my neighbor to help me and RAT bite his finger. Now we end up in Emergency Room

I recently rented a 4Runner for my wife from Budget Rental in Downers Grove.I was intially set to rent a Camry from another company down the street. Because of their dishonest ways of conducting business and lack of customer service, I brought my business to Budget Car Rental.I got a 4Runnner for about the same rate as the other place was giving me for a Camry.Ben and his staff were very professional and polite. I personally base my decision to come back as a customer on how well a business provides service. Ben and his staff have certainly met my expectations and if I ever need a rental, I will certainly consider Budget Car Rental in Downers Grove.

Zero stars. We reserved a car for a day trip for our daughter's 16th birthday and when we arrived at the designated pick up time, they had given away our rental. I do not recommend.

Zero stars actually. Reserved a car days in advance for a day trip for our daughter's 16th birthday. When we arrived to pick up the car at the designated time they had given it away. I would not recommend relying on them if you actually need the vehicle you reserve.

If I ever need a car, I will be going to Budget. They always have cars, the customer service is way above par and the prices are not so bad.

They had the car I reserved. Took 20 minutes to get it cleaned out. Why was this not already done when it was dropped off? Place was not busy. The cars service engine light is on, the brakes are grinding, and one of the rear seat belts won't fasten. Thats why the 2 star.

The rental exterior car was filthy. The change oil light was on. There was a sticky film on all of the inside windows which prevented the windows from going down. This was the worst rental car I've ever had.
