I loved this bank before it turned into First Mid. I never had issues with the app, and I never had any large issues with anything. It was always a small problem that was happily and quickly fixed. Now, I've been burned by overdraft fees in the past and, not wanting that to happen ever again, chose to have my account just decline a payment if I was unable to pay it. No one, at any time, told me this would not work for payments that came out of the account directly. I recently moved, and it took a little longer than expected to get a job, so I had burned through what I had left in my account, aside for just a little extra above some bills that I knew were going to come out. I had a payment come out that I thought already had weeks before, and it just royally wrecked me. While they did take one NSF fee off upon request, they wouldn't waive them all, despite the fact that I was unaware that I would even get slammed with these fees, as I was under the impression that the payments simply wouldn't go through. That was a piece of vital information that could have stopped me from being even more in debt. I will be closing my account as soon as I am able to pay the fees back, even though I feel extremely wronged. Such a shame, as I've always promoted this bank to my friends and family and tried to get them to switch. I have now warned them to stay away, and anyone who has struggled in life should, too.
