This complaint is more about BMO at large than it is about this branch… I made a swap to BMO from a large competitor bank. I have been largely disappointed since day one. After qualifying for a CC - I decided to do a balance transfer to another banks 0% card. This somehow triggered an alert that left my cc useless for over 10 business days (mind you the fee cleared immediately and no issue by my other bank immediately accepting the transfer) - odd considering BMO was PAID for this transaction. Then; I go to cash a check - a sizeable check (in the mid 5-figure range) from a 401k. This is a check backed by a reputable bank. The check was placed on a 7 business day hold. I was told 5k would be available immediately and that did not end up being true. Unheard of from my experience with other banks. This amount immediately cleared my 401k after BMO cashed but I am unable to access my funds. All of this is in the backdrop of my cc being put on holds for ‘fraudulent activity’ nearly 50% of the time I use it. I do not recommend BMO.

I went into this branch to inquire if I'm able to open up a new account with them but instead of her putting my information in the system she had my check canceled. their communication level sucks!

This bank doesn't recognize Puerto Ricans as citizens. Denied my sister a bank account. My sister can't get a illinois ID unless she shows a bank statement or bill with new address and bank treated her like an undocumented immigrant
Edit: Chase on Summit opened an account for my sister and even apologized for BMOs disrespect.

Recently assisted over the phone by Andrea. And WOW I lived in Elgin for awhile now and never had this type of customer service by a banker nor at other banks. She was extremely thorough and knowledgeable. Finally someone who takes pride in there work. Please promote this banker asap!

I love the service they provide, it is appropriate and they immediately solve any type of problem, even when it comes to calling, they respond quickly, I recommend it.

This bank does not have the staff needed to run properly. The wait is ridiculous. The phone assistance thru the app is trash. I’ve been dealing with nothing but issues since I opened the account. I’ve seen people walking in stating they have had nothing but issues with this bank. At this point I’m will not even trying to have my issues fixed. I will be closing the account and transferring to Chase. Head my warning, if you want great customer service and a bank account that does not come with headaches you need to avoid BMO.

DO NOT BANK WITH BMO HARRIS!!! Under any circumstances!!! I've experienced nothing but headaches and disappointment in dealing with BMO. Their security/fraud department is an absolute joke! My account gets locked for attempting to use it at a gas station in my home town yet BMO allowed $1,300 to be fraudulently taken from my account with no problem. BMO's customer service is hands down THE WORST I've ever experienced and I've had to contact them multiple times per week for the past 5+ weeks because they're incompetent and never solve ANY ISSUE. I've been out of the country with no access to my accounts on several occasions because BMO always chooses the WORST times to lock you out and there's never "anything they can do about it". All of these shortcomings have occurred several times throughout my banking experience with BMO so it isn't just bad luck. They're consistently bad at everything they do. I have numerous family members, friends, and coworkers who have had the exact same negative experiences with BMO as myself! BMO is THE WORST BANK anyone could ever bank with! Stay far away from them at all costs! They also have abnormally high overdraft fees and the worst overdraft protection.

Good full service bank. I’ve never had bad service here. Most recent reason to go inside was an ATM card replacement. The teller did made me a new one on the spot.

Horrible customer service upon arrival I was trying to sell my car that I had a lean from BMO the cashier said that if I wanted a lean release they would not do it I’d have to do it myself. My follow on question was if they could notarize a bill of sale at first the heavy set Caucasian man said no we will not. I the. Proceeded to ask what if I was coming in to do business with you would you sign it then and he then said yes overall very lazy and unprofessional the staff needs to be trained on handling simple tasks I would recommend driving 5 more mins to the next location where I was immediately helped

Staff was rude and incompetent. Had a problem with the ATM and the lady in drive through was extremely unhelpful. She couldn't comprehend it needed to be fixed and blamed my card (non BMO). Trying to explain the issue and she was just staring at her cell phone. Not returning to that location ever again.

I don't know if they're understaffed or what's going on, but this is the slowest bank drive up I've ever been to. I waited here for 20 minutes the other day before driving off and going somewhere else. I'm in the drive through currently and have sent my box through and haven't been acknowledged or anything for 10 minutes now. If you're in a hurry, definitely choose another bank. This is kinda ridiculous.
