I have used this salon for many years. I had an appointment scheduled today. I received a phone call this morning telling me that the stylist I booked with, Sandy Kensella, is refusing to service me due to four prior cancellations. I don't recall there being a total of four cancellations, however, I do know that I called with plenty of advanced notice to reschedule my appointment. The last time, I believe I was sick, and had just became symptomatic, so I will own that one. Additionally, in the time that I was a client here, there were a few occasions when I was given last minute notice that my appointment would need to be changed/cancelled due to overbooking, or the stylist not coming in that day. I was floored that after as long as I have used this salon, they have just shunned me. I would understand if there was no notice given each time, but all times but one, notice was given, and within plenty of time. The only one time notice wasn't given is when I woke up sick prior to my appointment. I have now found a new salon at the same time my appointment was for today. They will not be getting my repeat business, and tip.

I went there before and had a good cut and color. This time I went to another lady there and had a horrible experience. I was there for over 4 hours to have my hair ruined. She did not listen to what I wanted. I mentioned the fact that she was addressing the main issue I came in for. She claimed she would "fix it" with toner and turned my hair purple. She then attempted to strip the toner out, now it is gray and extremely damaged. She never listened to anything I had to say and was talking to my hair! I'll never return

Worst salon experience I've ever had. Gypsy was so nice and talkative the entire time and I felt like I was in good hands since she talked about her years of experience in salons. Then she finished my hair. I had been so focused on our delightful conversation that I did not notice this woman cut my hair about 6-8 inches shorter then I told her. We had verified the length I wanted twice, and even looked at a picture of someone's hair she had done similarly. I am truly devastated. The only reparation I got was a "refund" in the form of a Penney's gift card. My hair is gone and will take years to get back. DO NOT GO HERE.

This salon has gone so far downhill. The girl dyed my hair bright red and I had to get it stripped and recolored. Horrible. Can’t believe they’re still open !

Called the salon during business hours, which I verified the day prior, and no answer. Then went in to ask a question and seen people just standing around chatting. Unprofessional in my opinion.

My hair is not only uneven, the hairdresser managed to miss some stands here and there. She was very nice but my hair looks really bad. I'm not a looker under normal circumstances but she managed to take a homely woman and turn me into a Halloween costume. Again, nice hairdresser, terrible cut.

I went here a week ago and did not have a good outcome, so I scheduled another appointment to hopefully get it corrected. Turns out the person who cut my hair last week is no longer employed there. As a result, I got scheduled with a great stylist named Mercedes. What a blessing! Mercedes knows her stuff! This woman took one look at my hair and said "someone gave you a mullet", which was true! Mercedes listened to what I wanted, looked at the pictures of haircuts I had, and took her time to get it right. She even apologized for the cut I got a week ago, even though she had nothing to do with it, and thanked me for giving the salon another chance. A salon is only as good as its stylists and Mercedes is a Great stylist, as well as a good customer service advocate for the salon. This is truly the best haircut I've had in Years. I highly recommend Mercedes at JC Penney Salon West County. I cannot vouch for all the stylists there, but if the others are as good as Mercedes, they've got it made.

If the people hadn't been so nice this would have been a 1 Star. I set an appointment for a balayage and cut. I set it online and it even gave me the option to put it on my calendar but when I showed up at noon they told me that the girl didn't show up until 1. So if you include the hour I had to kill before the appt because of that error I was there 6.5 hours and I genuinely wish I never went. My hair looked better before. All I wanted was to look cute for my birthday and now I don't even have the money to go somewhere else and see if it can be salvaged. It's the first time I've been back since my favorite girl left and I honestly don't think I will be back. I'm so disappointed and embarrassed to have to wear this hair in public.

Heaven help the place. I found the staff super nice, but the skill level is embarrassing. If you ever wondered what happened to your friend in beauty school who was really sweet, but barely graduated - I'd check here. I thought it would be a treat to sneak off for a trim and style, while hubby entertained the kids at the mall. Big mistake, somehow my stylist seemed both confident and confused at the same time. I left with a style that never made it out of 2008, and $55 less in my pocket. From what I saw at the checkout counter, I wasn't alone. They need to shut this place down for 2 weeks for some much needed evaluation and education.

I went to get my hair cut yesterday before an event. I told my stylist (Young?) that I wanted to keep my V shape and length but make it look healthier. I said "I hate when it is straight across, so I want to keep the V I have" and even showed her a V with my hands. I warned her of how fine my hair was and that it tangles (it isn't dyed at all) and what not, as well. Because it is so fine, I wanted some layers to give it some dimension. She cut like, 10 strands of hair and said she was done. My mom looked at it and said "it doesn't even look like you cut anything". The stylist picked up a piece of my hair from the ground to show her she did cut it. After she left, I asked her to layer it a little more, as it didn't look like she had. So she cut a little more. While she was drying it, I asked her to curl it at the end as I had an event to go to and her response was, "curl?! Nooo I was going to do a round brush to give you volume!" ... and I was like, oh, ok. So she round brushed it. And then, cut a little more. When she was done, she handed me a mirror and it was straight across (with a few pieces in the very back longer than the rest for that "V" look, I guess) and flat as could be. I ended up paying for it ($42!!!!!) and left, without a smile. I didn't throw a fit there, bc frankly, I didn't want her to cut MORE off and mess it up more. The second I walked out, I called my sister and asked her to come over the next day (today) with her scissors to fix my V... she ISNT a hair stylist but knows how I like my V. I'm pretty upset I didn't stand up for myself and tell her I was very unhappy but I didn't want her to ruin it more. I don't recommend going to her because of this AND the fact she wouldn't even do the style I asked for and wanted yet I paid a crap ton still. I ended up having to curl it myself, which would have been better if I had my straightener (I had to borrow someone's) as I flew in from S.C. and didn't bring mine specifically bc I knew I was getting my hair done prior to my event! So upsetting. Never again. BUT, my sister fixed it and it looks amazing now! She deserves the money, no this place.
