I have shopped at the Freeport, IL Goodwill store since it opened.
I've been pleasantly surprised by some of my finds and always enjoy the thrill of the 'hunt'.
The prices generally are reasonable, but lately, in the past couple of weeks, the cost of items have jumped dramatically.
Purses that normally hung in the purse section and priced at the most $9.99, are now behind the counter with their prices 3-4 times that.
Mugs (my favorite item), now at least $1.49 (most more), up from the standard 99 cents.
Some glassware, even with cracks and chips, up from between 99 cents - $3.49, to at least $5.49.
I understand there is a new manager. I also understand that there is a transition period when that happens.
But as a shopper who was coming in 5-6 times a week, I won't be any longer. I will most likely shop on Sundays for $1.00 day and on Wednesdays for the 15% Senior discount.
Please reconsider and lower your prices to something more reasonable. I assume if the prices are not adjusted, your sales will most likely go down or items will sit longer until sold.
One last thing, the employees at this Goodwill are personable, polite and really good at their job! Most always say hi and greet me and that is a HUGE plus to my shopping experience and one of the reasons I've been a loyal customer!

I don't know what changed recently, other than management, but it feels like a totally different place.....hoping it's not a permanent shift.
The employees don't interact with customers quite the same....it feels stiff and unnatural. They don't seem to enjoy their jobs anymore.....if this is due to management, they may start seeing employee turnover.
Idk, just observations.
Prices very recently skyrocketed at this particular store.....I'm seeing ebay prices.... Really? Ouch.
I know inflation hit, price increases became normal, and thrift stores knew that the number of resellers has gone through the roof. I also get the whole sending higher value stuff to their auction site.....I mean, it's supposed to be helping their mission. Which is what we want....no matter what people say about the corporate fat cats.
But the pricing lately leaves no meat on the bone. I estimate that 30-50% of thrift store customers now do some sort of resale. Alienate that customer base, and it'll show by hitting the goodwill corporate wallet.
At the end of the day, it's a thrift store. 100% profit from donated items. Thrift stores used to be affordable options for families, seniors and those with lower income but it seems they're too interested in profits.....

If I could give it any lower stars I would. It's completely unprofessional, just because you're In a rush to go home doesn't mean you shut off your lights 30 minutes before closing time while there's a bunch of customers still in the store. Such disgusting behavior....

Prices have gone up way too much overtime where it's now a complete joke. How much did you pay again for "your" items? The cost to Goodwill was nothing - free - and mostly free delivery... Interesting.I laughed when they tested my twenty dollar bill to see if it was real... seriously? I don't agree with people stealing, but if someone is willing to fake a twenty dollar bill to buy items from Goodwill, maybe just maybe, they need those items that you got for FREE in the first place. To be clear, my money was of course real.In short, Goodwill has become incredibly greedy as a company. Watch their ACTIONS not their words (prices up, quality/quantity of options, down).I will never shop there again.

It was a very muggy July afternoon, and my daughter sought a fun new toy. We arrived at Goodwill and she found many nice items. I shall return in the future!

The Freeport store IS the cleanest and most organized than ANY of the stores in the Rockford area. Shopping in the Freeport store is more relaxing and less stressful. The employees don’t seem like they’re distant strangers to each other and to the shoppers. The manager is very friendly and hands=on from replenishing, running the register to housekeeping. No matter the weather outside, they keep the inside sparkling and bright. There’s no clutter and disorganization and they are more selective on the condition of the items they put out into the retail area. Way better shopping experience.

The store charges what Walmart charge for items where's the good in Goodwill. The manager and the younger men and young ladies over price items that are donated. Everyone including Goodwill is taking advantage of the less fortunate to line the pockets of the more fortunate. I plead to everyone donate to a church or shelter. A lot of families could benefit from your help.?
