Purchased a vehicle June 2025 used vehicle, salesman was ok. But the vehicle was not up to selling standard before sold.
First I was told that brakes was done all around the vehicle turns out it wasn’t a week later found the rear passenger brake pad to be less then 1mm thickness. But the other 3 wheels was done which is weird why would you do brakes on 3 sides of the vehicle.
The vehicle also had a headlight out, something as simple should’ve been caught and address it’s a $20 set for bulbs but it’s not the point it should’ve been done,
Vehicle had a Check engine light that they cleared before selling to me for it to come on a day later after driving. Misdiagnosed the vehicle and replaced the wrong part. The code was P0446 for a gmc Yukon they replaced the evaporator canister which in fact it turned out to be the fuel pressure sensor located on top of the fuel tank.
Rear shocks was leaking soon after the purchase, on these vehicles typically if the rear shocks go out the air compressor for the air ride goes out too, expensive fix.
And finally the title work, the title was not put into my name after purchasing it, which caused issues for me later on due to attempting to get a replacement. This caused me not to be able to get a replacement title I emailed the GM of this established but I have not received any help from them on this matter.
The overall vehicle purchase experience was not pleasant I get the vehicle was a “As-Is” purchase but honestly I felt I had to give a review in hopes to save someone else from making the same mistake I did. I thought buying from a dealer opposed to Facebook marketplace would be a safer bet but in all honesty it’s no different. I can not recommend buying from this dealership for used cars.

First time I ever bought a vehicle without seeing it in person. 2022 Ram was delivered to me and I couldn't be happier with the truck and the deal. Highly recommend Barkau and Shawn Hoefle.

Took down previous review about terrible experience buying a new vehicle as I didn’t want to get the email updates but since I have sent several emails to the parts department and gotten zero response I figured I would give them the well deserved 1 star back. I actually traded my previous car as I emailed multiple times two years ago because I wanted to order a simple upgrade and never heard back then either. In all fairness no other dealership responds either. I believe any forms on their sites that aren’t new car purchase leads are just forwarded to trash, if delivered at all. If you have limitations like me and rely on email then expect dealerships to treat you like crap or mostly ignore you altogether. I am someone who has bought 3 new vehicles in 3 years so it’s not like I am not profitable to them.

If you want to get lied to about the maintenance and carfax on a car youre purchasing. This is the place to go. Had on their cite that my car was a second owner, and all the maintenance was done on time. And i got it home and about a month or so in, started giving me problems. Had my mechanic look at it, and there was actually 4 owners. And it had no maintenance records for about 40k miles. Theyll tell ya anything to get you to purchase. Be careful with these small dealers, theyre after your money…

Recently purchased a Grand Cherokee. This is my third vehicle from the family of dealerships. Both Stockton and Freeport locations have great people to work with. My recent experience was with the folks at Freeport. They all work as a team and made sure my experience from trade in to new purchase was flawless. I’ll be the first to tell you I hate buying cars. This experience was quick, painless, and worth repeating again. Highly recommend.

I had my dad take my dodge charger to have the mechanic look at it, as the left front was making a grinding noise. We've spent over 2 grand, new cv joints, didn't fix it, new propeller as it's awd, and still didn't fix the issues. Still makes the same noise. Wouldn't recommend them to look at your car..

I had an excellent experience with Barkau purchasing a new car. They go above and beyond compared to any experience I have had in the past. They also really know their cars, so they can provide the answers you need.
They did not have exactly what I wanted on the lot, but they found it for me and got it to their dealership. I wanted to get the Paint Protection Film put on. They gave me information on 2 places that they recommended. I made a choice and they got the car to them, got the PPF put on, and brought it back to the dealership before I drove the car off the lot. I have had the car for about 6 months and they still take the time to answer any question I have quickly. With all this technology I find myself still not knowing how half the things work (or that they are even available). They take the time to answer any question I have quickly. The knowledge they have about their cars is really impressive. I have dealt mostly with Rhett...and I can't thank him enough for saving me time and frustration with how everything works, where things can be found on the app etc. My car is fabulous, and I highly recommend the people at Barkau in Freeport.

Repair asked for was $100 less than expected, super polite, Joel was very welcoming and informative,, no doubt the best service writer i have encountered in my 76 years, and i worked at the dealership level for 15 of them, this man is a great attribute to your your business,, most pleasant dealership experience in last 40 years

They send us a review to complete. We did stating they upsell on thing we do not need due to our vehicles being not even a year old. The called us at 4pm on a Tuesday evening to tell us we need to find another place to get service. We have bought 4 cars from them. We are astounded at what they called and told us. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING TO THEM!
