This was our second trip to the Goldmoor Inn. It was a delightful experience. The service was excellent, and the restaurant/ food was exceptional. A very romantic and relaxing getaway for us!

A profoundly embarrassing and disappointing experience. I made a reservation for my wife’s birthday. She has been missing unique American fare so I decided to make the 1.5 hour trip to go to the Goldmoor. She was ecstatic once she saw the menu, as was I.We arrived and were greeted by a gentleman (perhaps the owner, which makes recalling the interaction even more infuriating), who asked us upon arrival if we were sisters. I politely said no. He then went on to say, “I could have sworn you were sisters.” After saying a second time we weren’t, he said, “are you sure?” By the time, I was over the evening already and we hadn’t even been shown our table yet. There are three profoundly important questions for the owner (?) to consider:First, is this a standardized question for every twosome that walks through the door? Put differently, I would be curious if the two couples around us were asked the same question. If not, then what is the explanation for asking two women if they are related and then more or less badgering them about it when they said no the first time?Second, this man then went around and asked every table around ours if they were ok and enjoying their time. He skipped our table every time he walked around. What is the explanation for that behavior?Third, what has happened in the past that has led someone to believe that they are exempt from making an impact on others with their behavior? This ridiculous interaction set the mood and tone of our entire $200.00 meal.Unfortunately, we do not support or recommend places that have staff who carry out microaggressions. This was an embarrassing and uncalled for interaction. My wife and I just wanted to celebrate a birthday, but instead we were met with weird questions about if we were related, then not believed when we said no. This place is interpersonally gross and I regret not walking out the second this person opened his mouth and failed to apologize. For reference, my wife is from the Middle East and I’m a white red head from the Midwest. Two women walk into a restaurant. That’s it. That’s the sentence. Grow up.

Absolutely blown away by the meal! Most definitely the tastiest food we have ever encountered. Cheers to the chef! On top of that the service and atmosphere was exceptional.

My husband and I stayed at the Goldmoore Inn during NYE. We had a wonderful suite overlooking the beautiful estate and the service and food were outstanding. We will definitely visit the Inn again!

HORRRRRIBLE service from the restaurant in the Goldwork Inn. I made a reservation for the new years dinner and we needed to make a cancelation due to family issues that came up. The woman I spoke to on the phone yelled at me, called me names, etc. Told me that I'm ridiculous for canceling because they already ordered the food and that they will charge our card for all of the meals just because we said we cant make it. (5 days in advance.) She told me I have issues over the phone and hung up on me. I called back and told her she will hear from my lawyer if she charges my card for 5 meals when we never signed ANYTHING stating that we were going to be charged. This woman was disgusting and despicable in the way that she spoke to me. I have NEVER in my life experienced such horrible service from anyone in my entire life. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

I had dinner here to celebrate my birthday and it was a fantastic experience. The service was very friendly and the food was out of this world. I would recommend this to anyone looking for dinner with a nice view.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary in the Leafland cabin. It was amazing! The inn was beautiful and the cabin was wonderful! Everyone was so nice and really paid attention to the small details. When we opened the door to the cabin, a warm fire and Christmas music greeted us. We spent the weekend in our own little world appreciating all the thought the inn put into our stay. I definitely recommend this for a wonderful getaway!!

I can't say enough great things about the Goldmoor Inn in Galena, IL. It was our anniversary weekend and we had the best time. Beautiful place to stay, great views out our windows. Excellent dinner there and the staff were so accommodating!!

We had dinner here on a Saturday night. The food was awesome and the view of the woods from our table was really nice. All of the courses were really good. The Beef Wellington was the highlight of my meal and for my wife it was the leek soup. Treat yourself to a nice night out.Peace

We have been coming the past 5 years or more for our anniversary, and sometimes just for a closer getaway.Rooms: We have stayed in about half the rooms. They have all been very nice, but we definitely have our favorites. ?

A culinary delight! Enjoy a first-class experience like none other in the Galena area. The chef has an amazing ability to blend different, unlikely flavors together into an umami creation bite after bite. I can't wait to return for the Autumn menu!

Came here for a fancy dinner and got exactly that. The chef is originally from a fancy place in downtown Chicago. Food and service were both excellent and the view from the dining room was beautiful with the sunsetFood & drinks: Food was definitely worth it. Except for the Beef Wellington, the menu is seasonal, so I decided to save the Wellington for my next visit.
