My frist appointment with Caroline DeVillo went extremely well and I was very excited to work with her. My dress was gorgeous and the sample size fit me to a tee. She even offered to sell me the sample for 30% off the list price. After the first appointment, my experience with her went down hill, though. I had commissioned her to make an embellishment for the the dress and assumed that she would be able to do my alterations. Around Christmas time she informed me that she was closing her boutique and would not be able to do my alterations. After that point I think she completely stopped caring about her customers. I had already paid for my dress, so all I had to do was pick it up. When I got to her store, she had not made the embellishment. In fact she completely forgot everything we previously discussed. I had to pick from the left over stock she still had available. She could have given me a discount for her lack of attention, but I had to pay full price for a used item. Then she didn't even give me a real garment bag for my dress. I paid thousands of dollars for a dress to have it thrown in an over length garbage bag? When I got home, I realized that a portion of the dress was missing. I had a ballgown and there should have been a large petticoat under neath it to add volume. I contacted her and she said that she forgot it. When I tried to email her back about when I could get it, her email address stopped working. I tried to call the store several times and she would not return my calls. Luckily, I knew she was having a store closing sale. I went then to pick up my missing item. She didn't even have the one orginal to the dress. She went into a closet and rummaged through it until she found something in my size and said it should work. Then, she balled it up right in front of me and stuffed it into a garbage bag. She saw that I had a horrified look on my face and then explained that it would not wrinkle. I paid couture prices and went to this boutique partially on the strength of her yelp reviews. I thought when I bought my dress I would get a high level of service, and I didn't.

I also joined yelp to be able to write this review. I bought a wedding dress from Caroline de Villo at her sample sale about a year ago. She and her associates treated me with the utmost respect. This is the only store i went to for wedding dresses. I live in the neighborhood and had my eye on a specific dress hanging in her window. I was thrilled that I was able to buy my wedding dress from a local store to support local industry. Over the course of fittings, Caroline (the designer herself) continually amazed me. I was struggling with a very sick future in-law and was close to tears during several fittings. She offered wine, hugs, and texted directions on how to bustle the dress when I forgot (even though she had shown me). When I kept losing weight from the stress of having a sick in-law, Caroline scheduled more fittings and did more alterations to make sure the dress fit properly. Two days before my wedding I was supposed to pick up my dress at noon and then pick up my in-laws. My father-in-law's health prevented him from making his original flight and my schedule got changed around. Caroline had her husband stay at the store while she had a off-site meeting so that I could pick up my wedding dress at a different time. On my wedding day, the first thing anyone asked me was "Where did you get your dress?" People were in awe of the intricate lacework, the fit, everything about it. It was a unique dress (the Eliza) not like every other dress you see in bridal magazines. It fit my personality and made me feel like me but 1000 times more beautiful than I normally am. Caroline is a perfectionist and the dress fit like a glove. I urge all brides-to-be to visit her shop and see the beautiful gowns she has--and veils, shoes, bridesmaid dresses, and jewelry. Buying my wedding dress and working with Caroline was one of the few pleasures of wedding planning.

Working with Caroline is a dream. Not only are her designs classic, stylish, and original... but she treats you like one of her best girlfriends. The hardest part of the process is deciding on one gown because they are all beautiful. Caroline makes you feel comfortable and at ease from the moment you enter her salon. She listens to your needs and finds the exact gown for you. I loved, loved, loved my wedding gown and felt gorgoeous, glamorous and comfortable on my wedding day. The best part is the dress is made to fit you, so minimal worries re alternations! Caroline also helped me select accessories to complete my wedding day look. If you are looking for a unique, friendly, and fun experience, then visit Caroline DeVillo - you won't be disappointed.

After several years of walking by the window and ogling every dress I saw, this was the first and only stop I made for my wedding dress. Caroline understood my taste immediately and was very approachable. She was also sensitive to my budget. Not only did I love the dress, but I loved buying it from her.

We had Caroline De Villo in town this weekend for a trunk show at our salon in San Francisco- we had such a great time!!! Her beautiful designs were so well received by our San Francisco brides. Not only do we carry her designs in our salon, Haute Bride, but we also design our own jewelry that is sold in HER salon in Chicago. It was such a fun day playing dress up this weekend with both Caroline's gowns and our jewelry. I wish we could have Caroline present in our salon every weekend! She was a hit with our brides. Definitely check out her salon in Chicago. it's SO worth the trip!!!

Not your typical bridal store. Caroline Devillo provides outstanding service and quality selection in a boutique style setting. All of Caroline's dresses and accessories are classic. I tried a few other stores before discovering Caroline Devillo. I walked in and knew this was the place; I found my dress that day. A refreshing find in the city...this is a hidden gem.
