Very friendly staff and tidy bike shop. I stopped there after a bike ride to get my brakes replaced, picked it up the next day, very fast service!
They had group bike rides every Thursday, too, that looked fun (over for the season now) and a cute little bakery shop serving limited items.
I also had a friend who rented a bike from here and she loved her service as well!

I’ve driven by it a million times but this weekend I finally went to mill race Cyclery because they were the only ones around who rent tandem bikes. So glad we did! Weather was beautiful and the ride along the river was so scenic with smooth trails and a variety of cool bridges. We went north to st Charles and then south to Batavia and back for around 12 miles and though it was a little awkward at first, it really didn’t take too long to get used to the double setup. Folks at mill race were nice, knowledgeable and helpful, especially Matt the young guy in the morning and a bike tech (I don’t recall his name) who answered questions about a beat up old bike I had in my trunk. The gal at the cafe was nice too and though the shop was busy when we returned later that afternoon, it was very quick and easy to return our rental. I see now why they’ve been a staple in the area for so long! We’ll definitely be back to mill race, either for another tandem rental, servicing our regular or e-bike or maybe renting a kayak.

My husband and I decided we were going to get e-bikes. We did some research and decided we wanted to get Aventon bikes. We did some research and found Mill Race Cyclery was the largest dealer in the area. We came from Orland Park to Geneva (58 miles one way) to see the bikes. We decided to buy from a local store than from Aventon direct because if we needed service or had issues, they would be able to help. The bike I wanted was not in stock so we ordered them on June 29. Unfortunately, they did not have a small Level 2 in stock for me to try and ride it, but Bruce said he would let us ride the Pace bikes as rentals. We made our reservations and came back the next week. We loved how the bikes rode and decided to upgrade the seat and handle bars on the Level 2 bikes. Of course, while we were on vacation, our bikes came in. We were not able to pick up the bikes until August 3. Aventon had a special going on that if you bought a bike before July 31, you received an extra battery for free. We were told not to worry about it because we ordered the bikes prior to that. After buying the bikes, we were told to make sure to get our free battery on line and only had 14 days to do it. I went to sign up for the battery and they wanted the receipt. Because I did not have the receipt from June 29, I called the store and asked them what I should do. A little while later, I received a text from Bruce stating that he would be contacting his Aventon rep. He texted again stating they would be calling me shortly. About 10 minutes later, they called!! Mill Race sent them all the information that was needed for both bike batteries. The rep just needed our mailing address to complete the deal.
I would like to thank Chris, Andy, and Bruce for all the help they gave me. This is why we purchased a bike from a local dealer and not directly from the company. You don't get this kind of customer service directly from the company. We do not regret purchasing our bikes from Mill Race. Thank you again for all of your help!! We appreciate it so much!

I recommend going elsewhere. I bought a nice bike on online. Paying it off in three payments, I come in, and there’s 2 parts taken off. I can tell they were all nervous. Also trying to shuffle me out before I noticed something.
It is as if someone fixed other bikes with my parts in the middle of my payments. 100% unbelievable.
I recommend going to buy a bike somewhere else first. They do not have much verity anyway. I asked for a mountain bike then tried to convince me that a speed bike was one. I will get the tiers I need somewhere else.

My husband had been searching for an e bike for a few weeks. We decided to drive from Channahon to Geneva. The visit did not disappoint! The owner Bruce was fantastic and let us take the bikes for a spin to determine which one was the best fit. Needless to say, we purchased! Exceptional service and felt like a valued customer. Would HIGHLY recommend! The cafe is awesome too. Thanks Mill Race Cyclery!!

Paid $50 to assemble a bike they had in stock (note, most bike sellers do not charge an assembly fee) and they did a poor job: handlebar off center by 1/2 inch and one reflector incorrectly assembled.
Plus, sales staff never mentioned the promotional extra free battery for the e-bike.
Otherwise, staff was helpful and knowledgeable.
Poor hours, as they close at 6 pm daily.

I am a 66 year old guy with some physical issues that lead me to look into ebikes. Andy showed me a couple different ebikes and answered all my questions. After taking a quick spin on two Aventon bikes, I decided to buy the Aventon Pace 500.3. I LOVE it. It helps me get up big hills and I can ride much longer than with a conventional bicycle. The folks at Mill Race Cyclery did an awesome job of educating me, assembly of the bike and helping me pick out accessories for my bike.

If you're looking for a bicycle dealer look no further than Mill Race Cyclery and in particular Andy. Andy answered all our questions several times over and customized an electric Bike for me to try. If you're like me and are tired of sales/support people that don't know anything about their products, then you're going to be very very pleasantly surprised with Andy and his expertise. My wife and I decided to purchase E-bikes last year. I really liked the Aventon bikes but didn't want to purchase something online in case there were issues. We rented bikes from Mill Race for a few hours and rode along the beautiful Fox River Trail before deciding to purchase two Aventon Pace 500.2 bikes. Service was excellent. They set up the bikes for us and explained everything about them. The bikes are fantastic, but my bike developed a glitch that caused it to shut off while riding. I took it back for service and they replaced some electronics, but it started shutting down again. After bringing it back the third time, the tech reached out to the manufacturer again and asked if they would consider replacing the bike. Aventon agreed, shipped a new bike to the shop, paid Mill Race to build a new bike and transfer all of my accessories over to the new bike. It's performing flawlessly, and I couldn't be more grateful for the service I received from Mill Race and Aventon. In some cases, bikes have come a long way from just needing a derailleur adjusted. This is why it's so important to have a reputable dealer for purchases like this, with excellent service and staff, and with a good relationship with the manufacturers that they carry and service. I highly recommend Aventon and Mill Race Cyclery.
