I applied for an account online and my account was "under review" for over 5 weeks. I called several times and they could never tell me why it was under review or how long that review would take. Finally I got a letter in the mail saying my account was closed due to suspicious activity but all I did was open the account, deposit money and set up a direct deposit. I'm sure they just wanted to close my account to avoid paying a sign up bonus they were offering. What a terrible bank! Avoid at all costs!

George Gojnea is the BEST banker on the North Shore. So thorough, knowledgeable... You're a name with George, not a number. HIGHLY recommend!

HR department reaches out to you regarding an open position you were interested in, but does not respond back to email or return phone calls.

there would be no stars but a star had to be added to put in the review. associated bank is a nightmare to deal with online. their new system is a screaming hot mess. sign in and set up for access are horrible and require customers to delete and try again. once you can get in you can't get half of the information you used to be able to get online unless you agree to go paperless. this is just ridiculous. will be changing to another bank after more than 30 yrs with associated. i quit! customer service is terrific but powerless. i hope but doubt they are paid well.

Don't ever get a loan from this bank. I've been with them almost 8 years and I can't wait to get the hell away. They have not applied payments properly, lose payments, and find anyway they can to give you a hard time to pay down your loan. Absolutely true experience: I go into the branch and pay my regular payment (for home loan). I try to make an extra payment at the same time and they say, I can't because it's too close to the current and regular payment. They recommend that I wait. So I wait a week or longer and I go in to make the extra payment. They say "no, it's too close to your next regular payment, which is coming up." Got it? No matter when you go in, they'll have a reason why you can't pay extra payments. Ultimately, I had to file a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General's Office. Do you think that helped? Temporarily, absolutely. It took a short time before they started playing the same game. They also charge to close a 2nd mortgage, even if you haven't used it at all. In conclusion, if you're already living paycheck to paycheck, this bank is similar to a loan shark. My advice, go with the bigger banks, they are a lot better. I regret moving my mortgage from Chase. Why did I? I wanted to support my local bank. Never again.
