“The Woman’s Club of Evanston is an absolutely stunning venue for a wedding or any large event. From the moment my husband and I toured the space, we fell in love with its intricate architecture and timeless charm. Gretchen was incredible to work with. Professional, organized, and supportive every step of the way. Her vendor recommendations were outstanding, and every one of them exceeded our expectations. On our wedding day, the staff created a seamless experience, setting everything up beautifully and ensuring the day flowed effortlessly. Thanks to Gretchen’s guidance and care, our celebration was not only well organized, but truly elegant and memorable. We are beyond grateful to The Woman’s Club of Evanston for giving us such a perfect wedding day.”
“I love the variety here. The 6 lane pool is the appropriate temperature for a workout, but if you prefer warmer the 4 lane is there. Clean locker rooms, steam and dry sauna, plus extensive weight room and cardio equipment for whatever you need. The staff is great, and it's super queer and gender inclusive. Just wish there was a punching bag!”
“It was very clean. The kitties looked healthy. The kitties areas were clean. They are very friendly. They are very patient. I highly recommend this place to anybody that wants a kitty or is definitely new to having a kitty.”
“I recently won a few lots from Lot 14 on an online auction and there communications and responsiveness to messages was excellent. Great selections of items in their auctions as well. Cheers Lot 14!”
“I find their workshops are very comprehensive and easy to follow and they also provide lots of information and support while you go through the process. Blindness is an inconvenience, not a disability”
“Awesome place. Have every part you could need and the volunteers know where to find stuff to help you get it installed. I was so confused on what to do when my front wheel got stolen. I was in and out and happy within an hour of open shop.
The parts are also very affordable so it comes highly recommended to make a donation to help the place keep running. Thanks to Will and Zippy and the rest of the volunteers I didn’t meet!”
“Great experience!! One of the better cat cafes I’ve visited. $20 ticket per person for one hour, waiver signature required. Staff is very knowledgeable and caring, was told about 15 cats get adopted each week. You get a complimentary beverage of choice (you must take it when you enter, not when you leave).
Many of the cats during my visit were very young kittens. Super cute — some were playful, some wanted to sleep, and some were very cuddly (they want to sit in your lap).
There are arcade games, but I didn’t see anyone play them. Honestly, if a cat chooses your lap to sit in, it’s hard to move after that! Overall, fun experience and supports a good cause!!”

“Our 28 year old son has been a resident at Misericordia. They are the most caring and loving people. We have a 31 year old daughter who is also special needs. She lives in a group home that is not run by Misericordia. The organization who run her group home are good, but not on the same level.”
“I think very highly of this shelter. I saw the kittens and cats today as I donated a cat carrier and they are well taken care of and definitely will in the near future. They also are so nice and welcoming!”
“It's a place to help people who want to become sober. They have pot meetings as well as alcohol meetings and Alon meetings. They have mostly alcohol meetings very good place can sit on porch and fellowship all day from 8:00am to 9:00 pm.”
“Laura is absolutely the best. Thank you so much! She was able to help me the same day I called and told me exactly what to bring. Word of advice, do not submit online applications for the LIHEAP program. It is best to go to a center for assistance especially if you have your disconnection notices. There is no need for an appointment, you walk in and they ask if your services are going to get disconnected and depending on your answer they determine how to best help you. God bless you and your loved ones Laura.”
“What an absolutely fantastic organization! People from all over the country talk about how unique the Chicago Jewish community is to have an organization that supports them through so many avenues like Chesed Chicago does. They do it with dignity and anonymously. I wouldn’t be able to mention in one post all the ways they help, but we are talking about groceries, furniture, every day essentials, toys, bikes, baby needs, financial support and advice, etc.
We are truly blessed!”
“Always have great family events for members and family of members. Amazing Christmas party! Santa and Mrs claus stopped by! Otherwise it's a closer knit group”
“Heavenly experience! Where do I begin? The class teacher, Sue, is a thought provoking mentor. She is the Tim Gunn of the Chicago Mosaic School, and I mean this in the highest regard possible.
Taking a class in this space is the equivalent of being in “The Chocolate Factory”. (Come with me, and you’ll see, a world of true imagination). A color prism of glass sheets. Milky Italian smalti. All shapes, sizes, and textures of slates, stones and beach pebbles. All the doodads one could imagine!
The location to CTA transport is ideal. Also, there are multiple food spots within a block of the studio.
I flew into OHare airport, and took the L train Blue line to bus 152, which dropped me off a block from my accommodations. It cost me 25$ to get around the city for 7 days (I purchased the weekly pass on my first trip into the city). I stayed at the Wrigley Hostel, which is a block off the Addison redline. Great price for a secure location, and ideal for me since I spent most of my time at class anyway, and just needed a place to rest my head at night. Also some great food nearby (Cozy Noodle is about 5 houses down).
10/10 experience! I am already browsing the website for my next class!
Thank you for everything, and special gratitude to Sue- I appreciate you!
Below are the two pieces I made in my 2.5 day mosaic 1 intensive.”
“The Skokie Chamber of Commerce has been a pleasure to work and interact with. Thus far most of my interactions have been with David and he is simply GREAT!He is very knowledgeable, responsive and such a positive presence. The Chamber has some pretty amazing networking events.”

“A very friendly and welcoming crowd. I feel safe there as proper social distancing and mask wearing is practiced by all. I will be returning frequently and will likely find a sponsor there in short order. One day at a time, easy does it!”

“It was AMAZING to see the Home Alone house. When we were there, over 50 people arrived. The big thing to remember is that that is someone's house, so be respectful. It was really cold to see the house even many many years later.”
“Not only are the staff AWESOME, but this whole organization is so wholesome! Made my first donation yesterday and will definitely be back later this week to donate many more things. I was told social workers come everyday to "shop" (pick out what's needed). All I needed to do was complete a SHORT google from, took less than 5 minutes.”
“I have recently returned to piano after a lengthy absence and am so glad that I found ACM. I'm taking lessons at the Wilson location and my teacher is very patient and helpful. The school is very nice, the staff are welcoming and responsive and there are even adult recitals. They also produce concerts and Chicago's only classical music street festival. Very cool non-profit organization!”
“We are relatively new to the USA. Last summer, after moving to Chicago, my We are relatively new to the USA. Last summer, after moving to Chicago, my wife and I decided to improve our English skills. My wife found an ad on the Internet for summer courses, which were organized by Trellus. To enroll, we had to take placement tests to determine our level. These were the first tests we took in the U.S. We were a bit nervous, but the staff was friendly and made us feel welcome. Based on the results of a computer test, reading, and writing exercises, we were placed in the highest-level classes offered by Trellus. That’s the only reason why, after passing the final test, we continued studying at a local college in the fall instead of staying with Trellus.
Now, with experience from other courses, I can say that the quality of teaching at Trellus was one of the best, and the teachers' motivation to help students was truly remarkable. The language program was designed to meet the practical needs of people who had recently arrived in the U.S. The practical tasks were based on real-life situations that people often face. You were constantly engaged in the learning process, and every day provided useful knowledge. Besides the main course, we had the chance to attend speaking and writing clubs. There was even an English language Olympiad, which was organized creatively and made the experience enjoyable. Afterwards, the organizers and participants treated each other to dishes from their national cuisines.
We remember our teachers at Trellus warmly and with gratitude. If you are in Chicago and need to improve your English or even start learning it from scratch, I highly recommend Trellus.er courses, which were organized by Trellus. “Tessarae is such a warm, inviting place full of the kindest people. We had my daughter's birthday party there and it was a great experience. The environment was very inviting and comfortable, our group of teens had a really fun time doing a painting lesson together. We're looking forward to returning for painting lessons and art anytime in the future!”
“Placing a loved one in memory care is one of the most heart-wrenching decisions a family can face. When we made the decision for our mother, we were filled with uncertainty, guilt, and fear. She had become increasingly agitated, weak, and confused in the months leading up to her move, and we were heartbroken watching her slip away in front of us. We didn’t know what to expect — we only knew she needed more help than we could give.
From the very first moment we walked through the doors of Hartwell Place, those fears began to soften. The staff welcomed us not just as new residents, but as family. Their warmth, kindness, and patience were exactly what we needed at a time when our hearts were so heavy. They listened. They reassured. And most importantly, they treated our mom with dignity, tenderness, and deep compassion — the way we would if we could still do it all ourselves.
The transformation in our mother has been nothing short of extraordinary. She is calmer now, more grounded, and surrounded by people who truly see her — not just as a patient, but as a person. Every day, the staff at Hartwell provides not just care, but loving care. They take the time to engage with her, learn her preferences, speak gently, and meet her where she is emotionally and mentally.
The facility itself is immaculate, peaceful, and beautifully maintained. It is clear that the team here takes pride in every detail — from cleanliness and safety to communication and programming. The atmosphere is calm, welcoming, and above all, filled with heart. We never have to wonder if she's okay — because we know she’s in a place that treats every resident as someone’s beloved parent, not just another room number.
Hartwell Place has given our mother back her sense of peace — and given us, as a family, the gift of knowing she is safe, respected, and loved. We will never be able to thank them enough for the difference they’ve made in her life and in ours.
With deep gratitude,
Julie”
“As the parent of two young adults, a former PTA Board Member at both the middle and high school levels, and an active volunteer with a variety of community organizations, I can say with confidence that Erika's Lighthouse is an incredibly important and incredibly impressive organization. They have so many useful resources for schools, teachers and parents (in both English and Spanish!!). The information is clear and accessible, and the activities are even fun. Erika's Lighthouse staff are also super friendly and are available to answer questions about their resources and to help you use them effectively. This is a wonderful organization.”
“I’ve been volunteering for A Just Harvest in the Evanston community for 2 almost 3 years and have found a second home here. Getting to meet and build relationships with the other volunteers as well as the pantry workers and community members has truly been a life changing experience I’ll treasure always. Working full time as an educator has briefly taken me away from volunteering but I hope to continue doing work with AJH for many years to come. Much love to Mama T., Ruben, John, Mary, Yoyo, and everyone else at the kitchen!”
“Easy access to parking lot during convenient Sunday afternoon hours for Clothing Closet donation drop-off. Greeted promptly by founder/volunteer. Clear list online of donations accepted and prohibited . Spacious new facility for food pantry and clothing closet patrons and volunteers. A valuable resource for the community. Accessible via public transportation.”
“very kind people. Helpful. Helped with lense prescription, psychological needs after sudden onset blindness from eye stroke. Very clean. Help with moving about as well.”
