January 2022 by Loc Nguyen
Drove an hour to my COVID test appointment CVS Pharmacy in Greenville IL at 15:30 today. Soon as this lady Laurie saw me (and spoke to me via the intercom at the drive-through window), she asked for my name. - I said Loc, spelled L-O-C - What is your first name? She asked. - Loc was my first name. Last name is Nguyen, spelling N-G-U-Y-E-N - Lady said: Someone with your name and your confirmation was already here an hour ago and took your test. There's nothing I can do. At this point I hadn't even provided her with my confirmation, mind you. I said that is impossible. I asked: Same exact name, and same birthday? - What is your birthday? Asked Laurie - January 26th 1975 - Nope, said Laurie, the other person had a different birthday. The confirmation ended in 24. - Ohhh so NOT the same person then. Not my birthday, and my confirmation ended in 25 (then I proceed to show my confirmation on the phone screen to her through the window). IMMEDIATELY Laurie covered her face with both arms, waived them up and down, said Nope Nope I don't want to see it. But someone did take your test an hour ago and there's nothing else I can do. I was furious by this point, not driving an hour here to deal with her nonsense. How could she tell me it was a different birthday, different confirmation number, and still tell me with a straight face that someone else took my test. WTF?! And WHY on earth was she refusing to look at my actual appointment confirmation number?! It wasn't until I asked to speak with a supervisor that she miraculous found my COVID test ? One of two running theories here: (1) She saw that I am Asian and didn't want to help an Asian out. Or (2) She wanted to send me away and steal my COVID test for her home use. I will let the CVS leadership sort out which of these theories were true. For what it's worth, the sedan in front of me got sent away within 2 minutes at the window as well, without doing any test. I wonder if Laurie pulled the same move and they didn't fight back.
