I've been using Consumers COOP since 2000 not just for banking but for all my loans. I have never had an issue that couldn't be resolved with a simple phone call. They are always efficient and professional. No hidden fees and often the best loan rates.

There is zero customer service. My debit card was hacked, they were quick to cancel my card, but will not do anything about the fraudulent charge for 60 dsys. When I asked why 60 days I was told because that is how long they takes. This is the third time either I or my husband has had a questionable charge. The only thing they do is cancel your card. Changing banks is a hassle, but I just cannot continue with this no customer service hateful institution. It's a shame they are so disinterested in success.

This bank is horrible. I had a car loan with them over a year ago and when it was time for payment they reached out and ive always made my payments ontime. I thought they were a good bank up until I opened a credit card account.. its been over a year and I still haven’t received a single card in the mail I call and call over in over and gotta go through the same stupid questions process for nothing to get done. Customer service people sound like robots and not one time since ive been calling have anyone tried to go beyond to fix this issue always the same scripted response. Worse experience ever.

Words cannot describe what a clueless establishment this is. And to think that they are allowed to handle millions of dollars is mind blowing. The only employees that have some sense of direction is loan sales team. The rest is blind leading the blind. Paid off the loan. Nobody knows how to process and send the title. Closing account. Nobody knows how to send remaining funds out. Every phone rep I've spoken to gave different and quite often contradicting info. Don't be swayed by attractive interest rates. Run the other way. Stick to different financial institutions. I cannot stress this enough DO NOT BANK with CCU!!!!

I just switched to this credit union 8 days ago and have regretted it since. Horrible customer service and a very negative experience. I’m switching back to my old bank. Don’t put yourself through the hassle I did. There are plenty of banks and credit unions out there offering competitive rates.

I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews. Consumers has some of the friendliest people I've ever met working there. I go to the Gurnee location on Grand and Milwaukee and the one in Volo. I've never had a bad experience. people complain about the new teller experience but honestly it moves much more quickly than waiting in line... Thanks to all the employees there for a great experience. Michelle

DO NOT FINANCE YOUR CAR THROUGH CONSUMERS. We bought a new car in January and quickly refinanced with consumers because of lower rates. The previous lender mailed the title to my home which I immediately mailed to Consumers. About a month later I got a letter stating that they hadn't received the title. After three days of calling, being told they couldn't reach the title department and never being called back, they finally told me they had the title and it hadn't yet been processed. In July I received another letter saying they don't have the title and they are going to increase the rate if they don't get it soon. Again I call and am told they can't reach the title department and they never call back. With a previous vehicle I refinanced, the payoff check consumers sent to the previous lender was $10 short which I found out about when the previous lender reported me to the credit bureaus for under payment. This took months to resolve and have removed from my credit report. My fault for financing another car through them after this. They also send a letter every six months when insurance renews saying that they don't have a record of my insurance and they are going to buy insurance for me if I don't provide proof. Don't have the same experience as me. Finance your cars through the dealer or through national lenders who know what they are doing.

This is the worst experience I have ever had at a financial institution. I am unsure if it is because of a labor shortage or a sheer lack of competence. Refinancing my auto loan with CCU saved me 2% on my APR, but I should have remained with my old bank at a higher interest rate.First, they entered my auto pay information incorrectly; when I initially asked Chris, one of their loan service analysts, to confirm my routing number and bank information, he told me not to worry about it. Of course, after a few days, my payment failed, and needed to pay a $30 return check fee. Chris stopped answering my calls even though I was nothing but cordial. It must be nice ignoring a customer who was worried about a ding on their credit score because of CCUs and your mistakes, Chris. It took four separate calls to fix the issue and each time was on hold for 20 to 40 minutes. Angela(w) was very helpful in resolving that, but the whole situation should have been avoided. Then, I sent two forms saying my car was in storage and did not need collision insurance. What did CCU do? They did not send me a denial or acceptance of the form and are putting a $250 a month insurance charge on my account. I called to ask if they ever received my forms, one of them I had sent over a month earlier. I was told they received them, but no one ever approved or denied my storage request. After talking to another loan rep, they said the situation was resolved and I wouldn't be charged. Imagine my (lack of) surprise when I checked my loan status with them; I now have a $250 per month insurance policy charged to my account. So, I have to call them again and sit on hold for 20-40 minutes to "solve" yet another problem that they have created.I am not sure what their internal problems are, but I would assume a lack of communication between departments. Save yourself the elevated blood pressure and take a slightly higher interest rate elsewhere. I am in my 20s, and my doctor recommends high blood pressure medication to deal with this place.CCU is like a neglected dam, you think you fixed the last leak, but a new one pops up; but instead of water, it's money and time leaking out of your pocket and life.Consumers Credit Union, this is people's money, credit, and livelihoods you are messing with. Figure out a way to plug your own holes because this is absolutely unacceptable. In the Wise words of Chinese Master Commandeer General Phyuc Loang: Task Failed Successfully, CCU.
