Review of Great Wolf Lodge
We recently spent a weekend at Great Wolf Lodge with our family of five (kids aged 9, 6, and 2), and overall, it was a fantastic experience!
Pros:
• Water Park Fun: Our kids absolutely loved the large lazy river, the kid-friendly slides on Fort Mackenzie, and the wave pool. Although we didn’t try the bigger slides, they looked exciting, and the lines were surprisingly short.
• Perfect Timing: The water park did get busy in the afternoons, which is to be expected on a Saturday, but it was much quieter and more enjoyable when it first opened in the morning.
• Kid-Friendly Features: The fenced-in kiddie area was a great touch, offering peace of mind for parents. The warm water and comfortable air temperature made the experience even better. Plus, the lazy river and kiddie pool had handicap-accessible features like railings.
• Other Activities: The high ropes course and climbing wall were a fun change of pace from the water park.
• Clean and Renovated: The hotel was clean, modern, and felt more open compared to other Great Wolf Lodge locations we’ve visited.
Cons:
• The kiddie splash pad water was freezing, making it less enjoyable for our little one. And there wasn’t a ‘hot tub’ pool or adult hot tub to warm up in.
• The room lighting was very dim; more overhead lights would have made a big difference.
• The bathroom lacked a fan, leading to a humid environment after showers.
• The arcade was fun but overpriced.
Overall, Great Wolf Lodge provided a wonderful family getaway with plenty of activities to keep our kids entertained. While there were a few downsides, the positives far outweighed them. We’d happily return for another visit!

We are GWL family lover ❤️ We visit many of them, but Gurnee was one of our favorites. We driven from FL to Chicago, and our time here was great. The water park is super clean, big, and complete with many slides and options. The lobby is big, beautiful. The store is great, the staff veri friendly. We will come back soon ♥️

Food was average, not allot of portions and expensive. No hottub in Waterpark? Rooms were average- nothing special. Prizes for the arcade for the kids were terrible and cheaply made! Gift shop is over priced.
Clean, beautiful and friendly staff!!!
Walkability: 1st and 2nd is your main floors!

Food is over priced and isn't good, you have to pay to park you vehicle in a lot that's larger than the building, over night room and Waterpark passes is a joke the room wasn't ready til 430pm so we had to get a locker to pit our stuff in that cost $25 ridiculous if you ask me. We told them we weren't staying over night and would like a room to change in and leave our stuff. The front desk said nothing was available and the parking lot was empty at 930am. Will never go back

Service in the dinning is slow better plan on a long wait for meals only good was the morning buffet

Rooms were dirty, my two year old found old grapes next to the couch (we did not have grapes and this is a huge choking hazard!!) the place constantly smelled of marijuana (people obviously smoking in rooms due to smoke in the hallways), puke all over the parking lot next to our vehicle and restaurants having puke next to tables, staff rude and acting like we are an inconvenience asking for our food when the sign said it was ready and we had to interrupt them from eating and talking, people running up and down the halls screaming all night. We will never recommend this hotel to anyone!

Great Wolf in Gurnee IL has so much to offer with unbeatable prices. The paw passes offer endless fun; bowling, arcade, mining, ropes and more! Although the food options are quite limited, there is still somewhat variety.

The water park here is small but lots of fun. The activities are great. I took my kids with their two friends here for an overnight trip. They all had a good time. Which was the important part. However, I was not impressed AT ALL with the room or the service. The kitchen in our room (we had a two bedroom suite with a kitchen) had ZERO kitchen items. No paper towels, dishes, silverware, nothing. When I asked the front desk about this, they told me that they can't stock the kitchens because "it just all gets stolen." While I am sure that is a problem, I was under the impression that most hotels CHARGE people who steal things... not just refuse to provide all their guests with necessary items. I have stayed in a lot of hotels and resorts with kitchens and they all have kitchen items. I had to leave the hotel to go get these items at a store. It sucked and was not exactly part of the plan when you get a room with a kitchen. Thankfully there are stores nearby. The front desk lady offered me extra towels, literally in response to my asking about bowls and silverware. I felt like saying "How do you make queso or eat cereal out of extra towels?" But I didn't, she was understanding of my frustration. She just couldn't do anything about it. There were other issues also... the coffee maker had old coffee in it. Not a few bits but the whole soggy, gross, coffee grounds and filter mess left behind from previous guests. Just gross. I also asked for sheets for the pull out bed and they delivered them to our room wet. Folded in a bag, wet. That being said, the staff is very nice, which helped. My kids and their friends still had fun. I had gotten a really great deal on the room during a sale, so it really was worth it. I would still stay again if I could get another great deal... but just come better prepared. And not make coffee in our room. ?

Grandkids loved it. The staff was great. The lifeguards were great watching all in water and making sure everyone was safe. I didn't worry about Grandkids' safety. The lifeguards were super. They were on top of all activities. The food areas were clean and easy to get food for all ages. The Grandkids loved the kids specialty drinks. The mini golf was great for our 4 and 5 year old Grandkids. While playing we watched the older kids do the wall climb and Arial obstacle course. Great fun for all.
