I rented a car from Hertz under the assurance from associates that I would receive a refund if the car was returned early. I returned the car one week early (didnt need it anymore), expecting a refund for the unused time. However, Hertz refused to issue the refund, citing their prepaid rate Terms and Conditions. Shockingly (sarcasm), the no-refund policy was buried within these terms, not clearly disclosed during the booking process or on the receipt. My experience with Hertz has been deeply disappointing, and I advise others to steer clear if they expect honesty and fair treatment in their transactions.

When I rented the car, the tire pressure light came on immediately. I returned to Hertz. The employee put air "in all the tires" (he said) and told me not to worry about the light--it would stay on for a while and then turn off. It was not off the next day, so I stopped at another Hertz dealership on the road. I had checked the pressure myself, but the light was still on. This next employee told me not to worry and manually turned off the light. The tire exploded on me twenty miles later while I was traveling on the highway. In both cases, I should have been given a new car once the light did not turn off. I spoke to Hertz about it and asked for a refund, but they refused. Awful.

I’m kinda surprised this office has 2.9 stars. I’d give zero stars if I could. Horrible experience. Got dropped off at this location by an Uber from O’Hare only to find they had no car for us. Like the famous scene from Seinfeld, they TOOK our reservation, they just didn’t HOLD our reservation. “And HOLDING the reservation is the most important part of the reservation”.Luckily, Enterprise in Highland Park was very accommodating and saved us from a travel day from hell.I suggest saving your time, and skip Hertz. They haven’t quite figured out the concept of a reservation!

Reserved a specific car for a day/time and when I came to pick it up it was not there. Was not notified ahead of time car would not be available. Horrible experience.

Twice! Twice did the location manager Matthew told me my confirmed reservation was not available within an hour of my rental start time.

Manager’s special was a Kia! I don’t like Kia or Hyundai because of their attractiveness to the criminal element. Needed a car for a few days while my primary vehicle was being repaired. Good value for the price but hoping for better selection next time.

Pickup was great and quick. Got a free upgrade. Dropoff, not as great. Wanted to change to a debit card, but nobody there at opening time of 9am on Saturday. Waited 15min, then left key in drop box.

We got stuck with a car that had no ac on the hottest day in Chicago and called numerous Hertz locations and only Emmanuel at the Highland Park location actually cared and was able to get us into a vehicle that had ac. Thanks Emmanuel!!!

This was the worst experience I’ve ever rented. Rude staff (Emmanuel), no accountability, they don’t know what inventory is available. I would recommend anywhere else.

Understaffing is not fair to the excellent staff that served us. Out of cars, parking space is too limited and almost impossible to park during peak turn in times. We were able to get a car the next day but others were left frustrated even though they had reserved cars in advance. HERTZ, you are overlooking and not delivering timely, clean cars.

I have rented cars from this place for months for weekend trips. Rented a car from here over the weekend. When I got there they said they have no cars and for me to call and find another hertz with cars. They said they had none and cannot do anything for me. Manager Scott and Matthew told me it was not his responsibility or problem to help. He giggled in my face about this topic and thought it was funny. Told me they would not call other hertz or take action to help me get a rental. Terrible place to rent from. Would not recommend. Called hertz customer serve and they found a extra car in des plains faster then these Bozo could looking thought there phone. They don't care or want to help. Communication skills are not the best. They only took action after I called customer service and talked to a representative in front of these manager.Entire office smells like cigarettes as well. This location has gone down the drain over the last few months. Was renting from here monthly for out of town trips. Definitely will never be back again

This location employs a bunch of crooks. I was involved in an accident and I picked my rental car up from this location back in October of 2022. The employee (that I have since learned is no longer with the company) gave me keys to the car and let me go. We did NOT go through the MANDATORY inspection and walk-around of the car when I picked it up. I was not told any information about my rental or how I was supposed to return the car.Now, 3 months later, I returned the car and I was hit with a very large gas charge on my credit card. I should not have to pay this fee as I was NOT made aware of this requirement when I picked up the car because the ex-employee failed to do his job. NOW I AM BEING PUNISHED FOR HIS LACK OF COMPETENCE. When I called to dispute this charge and explain my side of the story, the manager Matthew practically blamed the entirety of the situation on me and NOT his ex-employee. Clearly this location is filled with a bunch of crooks and they hire crooks and have no appreciation of their customers. I WILL NOT rent from Hertz ever again. You have lost ALL of my business and I will spreading the word to friends and writing reviews to make sure others don't either.

These people waited 8 hours to cancel our reservation and then wont even pick up the phone. Will never rent from Hertz again. What a joke.
