Our mother recently passed, and we chose Hursen in Hillside. They took the stress out of the day. Becky was an absolute joy to work with. Very professional and caring. She noticed our crowd was a bit larger than anticipated, and called the caterer in advance to let them know we would be there earlier and with more guests! All of our “Special Requests” were handled with precision! Would recommend Hursen.

Anthony and Angelica provided excellent service for my son’s funeral. I highly recommend that you entrust them to take care of your loved one. They made an unbearable situation much more bearable.

My wife's family had used Hursen's for several funerals over the years. They seemed pleased with the service rendered. And so, when my wife passed away I chose Hursen's based on those past experiences. The arrangements for the funeral were facilitated, easily and politely made, agreed upon fees were paid which seemed reasonable, and recommendations for having the service completed were very good. But the conclusion of the whole funerary process took months of waiting, multiple contacts, messages unanswered, and the final matter never rendered (a headstone). After more than seven months of back and forth communication, I needed to conclude the whole process, and allow, not only my dear wife to rest in peace, but also for my family and I to deal with our grief and move on.The owner called very upset that I had chosen to go to another provider to conclude the funerary process (the headstone). The language of the call I received is not fit to print here. And then the owner, in a very unprofessional display, said that I was "impatient" (after all, I had only been waiting for 7 months to conclude the burial process) and then he proceeded to hang up on me because I chosen another company to put finality to this extremely sad and emotional situation.I could have been a customer in the future, but since this occurredI will find another funeral home for my family to use when my time comes. But they will be instructed not to use Hursen's.

We were taken care of by Becky, and I have to say everything went well. They were accommodating and available whenever needed. Big place, I liked how the cafeteria is located downstairs but have a separate lounge room upstairs for those who cannot go down the stairs. They helped setup everything with us. 5 Stars.

Recently my mother-in-law passed away and since we live out of town (former residents of Chicago's western suburbs) we needed to send her back for visitation & funeral. We contacted Hursen and they couldn't have been nicer. Anthony returned our call right away, took down all the information, and handled everything involved with shipping a body across country. His staff Angelica & Rebecca were spot on with responding to any questions we had. Everything was handled via email or telephone. The visitation was lovely! They made my mother-in-law look 20 years younger (she was 91), the casket, the flowers, everything was beautiful. We asked for a priest/pastor to say some prayers, so they put us in contact with Pastor Joe. What a nice man! He called my husband and spoke to him at length about my mother-in-law to get to know her. At the service, they way he spoke about her made it seem like they were old friends! The other thing I want to add is the price. They didn't overcharge or push for unnecessary things. In fact, they contacted the funeral parlor where we live that had possession of my mother-in-law & told them they were overcharging & should bring their price down. They did! Also, the casket we initially picked out was out of stock so Hursen gave us a more expensive casket at no additional cost! We couldn't believe it! Bottom line, the folks at Hursen were amazing! Would definitely use again if needed!!

I was appalled at the Funeral Director's behavior for a September 18, 2021 funeral. He was condescending, harsh and abrupt when addressing the immediate family. At one point, he looked for the mother of the deceased, called aloud, saying 'Oh, I thought you were a child' (referencing her youthful appearance). Jokingly but still very inappropriate on top of his other odd speech. Please ensure he takes a refresher course in hospitality. That would be a gift for all of your future patrons.

Funeral director/owner Anthony R. is a disgusting degenerate. I do not even want to type the detestable actions of this absolute joke, ruined entire funeral.

They walked us through the process and were very helpful and accommodating to all of our family's needs. The room was very inviting and comfortable, and there staff did an amazing job of helping us get through a big loss and a long day. A big thanks to Anthony and his team for there courtesy and professionalism. Juan

I had lost my husband to Covid. My sister in law was able to find Hursen through the recommendation of a cousin. Since they were out in Chicago and We lived in California, it was more difficult for me to grasp the arrangements needing to be done to have his body sent over so his mom and siblings could have a final viewing and service. I knew this was something my husband didn't care for but I thought it was morally right to make sure they had a chance to say their good-byes. Anthony was more than phenomenal to say the least. Not only was he very empathetic to this situation, the rest of his staff (Rebecca and Angelica) were above and beyond amazing. They not only set up arrangements for transport, but was able to give myself and his family ample time with my husband for our final good-byes. Through them, we were able to set up not only a viewing, but church services as well. If anyone was unable to make it; they provided internet for the zoom call. We had the biggest room anticipating that there were going to be a lot of people coming through, (but still maintaining and abiding social distancing rules) They have a kitchen downstairs for coffee, refreshments, and any food that the family provided. I am beyond grateful and appreciative for all they have done during this difficult time and they still took the time to sit with you and console you.

Obviously this isn't a place you want to be, but this funeral home is big and very nice. It's clean and they are following covid precautions. Nice big area down stairs for refreshments.
