Absolute nightmare of a tire shop – AVOID AT ALL COSTS unless you want to gamble with your elderly mother’s life due to their reckless negligence!
My 75-year-old mother suffered a blowout, so we urgently brought her car here. The service writer – definitely not a qualified technician – “inspected” the tires, noted they all measured 6/32 tread depth (accurate, but completely meaningless given what they missed), and only replaced the blown-out tire plus one more “to keep the axles even.” They rotated the tires (swapping front to rear and rear to front) and sent us off like everything was perfect.
A few days later – another terrifying BLOWOUT. When I checked underneath myself, I found massive, obvious bubbles bulging all over the inner sidewalls of both tires that hadn’t been replaced. These defects were severe, blatant, and screaming danger – anyone handling or rotating those tires HAD to have seen them up close.
Yet this incompetent service writer (and whoever actually worked on the car) completely ignored the bubbles, never flagged them, and never stopped the job to consult with me about the obvious safety hazard. They just rotated those ticking time bombs right onto the axles and let my mother drive away in a death trap. Had they done the bare minimum of their job – actually looking at what they were touching – they would have seen ALL the tires were dangerously defective and insisted on replacing them immediately.
Because of their careless oversight, my poor mother ended up stranded on the highway again, terrified out of her mind, and incredibly lucky she didn’t lose control and crash. When we came back for the remaining new tires, all we got was a weak “sorry ‘bout that” – no real remorse, and no accountability whatsoever. I would have bought ALL FOUR new tires on day one if they’d bothered to point out the life-threatening defects they couldn’t possibly have missed.
And don’t get me started on the rest: They claimed one old tire was still “good” and agreed to save it as a spare. I explicitly told them to load it into the back of the car – they “forgot,” forcing me to make an extra trip the next day.
This place is an absolute clown show staffed by negligent, unqualified people who handle dangerous defects with zero concern for customer safety. If my mother had been seriously injured or worse because they saw the bubbles and did nothing, they’d be facing a massive lawsuit right now. Steer clear – go literally anywhere else before these idiots put your family in mortal danger. Zero stars. Disgraceful.

I had a very unpleasant experience at the Johnsburg, Discount tire. 0n 12/01/25 I called to schedule an appointment to purchase and install 4 tires on my truck. Brian the manager scheduled my appointment for 2 p.m. we arrived and had to wait in a long line to speak to someone. I attemped to call 3x while I was in line to explain I had a 2 p.m appointment but no one in the store would answer the phone. We finally spoke to a gentleman that said he did not see that Brian the manager scheduled me. He said he can try to accommodate us but the truck wouldn't be finished until 5:40 p.m. Brian the reason I called ahead of time and made an appointment was so that I would not have to wait. I also made several attempts to contact Brian after I left the store but they kept putting me on hold so after 5 minutes of holding I hung up. Brian, you wasted enough of my time today. I have decided to purchase tires elswhere.

Try other locations for Price, Round Lake Beach was $30 cheaper for installing TPMS sensors. They are quick and do a really good job but cost more

Brian and his team are unmatched. Had some issues getting my snow tires in and he went above and beyond to get them in. Whenever I had a cap, he was able to get replacement tires in within a fraction of the time compared to other locations. Best Discount Tire location hands down.

I had a great experience getting all new tires for my Honda CRV today. They got me in within a half hour and was done in less than 40 minutes.

Johnsburg IL.
They called the same day as my online order, asked if I wanted a sooner appointment and verified I was selecting the correct tires and that they were in stock.
I checked in online. Got to my scheduled appointment early, they took me in immediately and followed my instructions perfectly. Every associate I saw asked if I was being assisted and was very friendly. They were done with the install a lot sooner then there approximate time.
Great work guys!
Keep up the great service and friendly attitudes!!

We purchased two sets of tires at the same time. My wife went into have the tires installed on her vehicle. Immediately the upselling began. Tried to sell her new wiper and what not. Told her that her rims needed replaced. Discount tire claims they cannot clean and seal the bead on a slightly corroded aluminum rim. They want to sell you new ones. We all know how metal of any kind holds up in northern Illinois. I recently called to ask about having a tire plugged. They won’t even look at it. They claim it is DOT and OSHA regulations that prevent them from performing such a repair. Not too sure about that. Buyer beware.

Complete and total incompetence! 100 % failure on being able to replace a tire pressure sensor. What joke in addition to multiple other failures. Been going here years and this is the last straw after many mistakes. Done with this place.
Update: The vehicle was here 3 times in 1 day trying to get a tire pressure monitor replaced and registered to the vehicle. 3 times they failed. Took the vehicle to Waukegan Tire in Grayslake Illinois and they fixed it right the first time. I tried to click on the link in the owners reply to my review to fill out a form so they can make it right and the link doesn't work just like your technicians.

The staff at the Johnsburg store went above and beyond to correct an issue with my tire pressure sensors that resulted from the replacement of the tires the week prior.

1.5hr wait for a 930 appt. When asked the answer is people with No appts are waiting for over 2hrs. Yeah thats great but I HAVE an appt. Poor communication as they don’t keep you updated while you sit and wait.
