About Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park

Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park is a beautiful 10-acre park located along historic Bluff Street and the Des Plaines River in downtown Joliet. The park features brick pathways, overlooks, lift bridges, a fountain, flower beds, and boulder plaques that celebrate Joliet’s history. The grounds are open from dawn to dusk, offering a peaceful setting for visitors. The park hosts a variety of cultural events, including free "Concerts On The Hill" every Thursday from June to August for over 40 years, along with musicals, festivals, and performances by the Joliet Drama Guild, one of Illinois’ oldest community theatre groups. The indoor theatre and outdoor bandshell provide spaces for performances throughout the year. Visitors can enjoy the family-friendly auditorium, which seats around 300, and attend performances like summer camp productions, school plays, and symphony-style orchestras. The park also offers picnic areas by the water, convenient restrooms, and ample free parking. Overall, it is a vibrant place for outdoor relaxation, cultural arts, and community gatherings.
