Employee helped me make a choice...yet it was too small according to my hairdresser....not an hour had passed it was unopened and they refused to exchange...customers should be warned when something is non-returnable...will shop elsewhere!

I have always gone to this beauty supply as it is near my home. However, today I went to buy bows for my daughter's hair and I also purchased a new sponge-brush for my son. I used my credit card to pay and I was told that I had to show ID. This was a purchase for $11.90 but because this is a low-income predominantly black community they assume the shoppers are thieves and scammers. How disgusting! I would never use someone else's card, I work hard for everything I have just like anyone else.
The associate said she would cancel my transaction and I told her no, don't cancel it I will come back with my ID. I returned with my ID and showed it to the associate so I could receive the items I had purchased. Needless to say, I will not ever go back. They definitely lost a loyal customer today. It's very unfortunate that so many business owners come to Kankakee and are willing to accept the community's hard earned money but in reality they have preconceived ideas and beliefs about the people here.
And just to put it into perspective, I have used my credit card many times and have never been asked for ID at any establishment, even when the total was substantially more. This whole experience was unacceptable.

WOW! One of the best experiences I’ve had at a beauty store. The minute I arrived this young woman asked me how I was doing and introduced herself to me. The store was very well organized. I came in looking for a wig for a wedding I have coming up and ended up buying nose rings and “fake” nose rings. Fernanda was very kind in helping me around the store and helping me find a wig. She’s the best. Definitely coming again.

This is my go to beauty supply store. I never feel like I'm being watched, which is very important to me. They have a huge selection of hair care products catering to people of color. They always ask if I need help not the kind of ask that makes you feel like they're watching you but genuinely want to help you. I drive by other beauty supply store just to come to here. Their selection is diverse and huge. Barbering equipment to a little bit of clothing to bows from huge to small and hair care products made by blacks. You can find everything here.
