It was great, the only downside is that they didn’t accommodate like normal hotels would but it might be because it’s a smaller hotel. Things like checking in 20 minutes early, they didn’t let us, checking out a little later, didn’t allow it and the packages they offer, you have to book them at least two weeks in advance otherwise they don’t have anything available and my husband and I didn’t discover this place until after our wedding. They also have a “baby moon” package but nothing for honeymoon which is odd since they have other options. The food for dinner in the English room wasn’t great Im not sure if it was because we had a late reservation but the food had no flavor which was a bummer. The Sunday brunch though was the best! Over all the vibes were great and for the most part everyone was very nice!

I’m a newly-minted forever fan of Deer Path Inn. I recently stayed for a two night solo visit and am enamored. The property is lovely and reminiscent of an old English lodge. The rooms are clean, spacious, and full of amenities (towel warmer, anyone?). Everyone I encountered was lovely, but I must give a special shout-out to Michelle, who is the literal best. Please also order the bone marrow at White Hart Pub. Insanely amazing. Thank you so much for a wonderful visit - I will be back.

If you’re looking for a quiet, romantic getaway in the Chicago area, the Deer Path Inn in nearby Lake Forest is your place. This historic inn is within walking distance of the train and local shops and restaurants in charming Lake Forest. Our suite was comfortable with understated luxury, and our dinner and breakfast in the Inn’s restaurant were delicious. Service is impeccable without being pretentious. This is a special place for us that we return to often—you should do the same!
