I should preface my review to note, I am disabled with a (not commonly treated by PT, yet) chronic pain disorder AND I am a Pilates lover. I hadn't given the Reformer a try since my accident and I was looking for a new approach to physical therapy. (I've been through more years of PT than I would care to mention.) Wellness Solutions surprised me! This is not your standard PT facility. You will not see weight machines or treadmills or recumbent anything. Tina uses a combination of the Reformer, resistance exercises, the balance ball and Pilates practice in movement to address specific client needs. Steve is the very knowledgeable Pilates instructor in-house. Both went out of their way to work with me, with the machine mechanics and with props to ensure I was maintaining the best postures possible. I was impressed by how each worked even more than other therapists I have had to determine ways for me to achieve the most optimal outcome from each of my sessions. And, each time I was there, they remained keenly aware of my unique pain situation and therapy needs, offering new ideas to challenge me, but still encouraging me not to push myself too far (which, as a long time, serious former distance runner, I always tend to do). I would highly recommend Wellness Solutions if you a seeking therapy that is: 1) a not-as-traditional approach to PT, 2) have a movement-based injury (i.e. you need to work on moving but are challenged to do so at vertical or use crutches, a walker or a cane), you have a neurological disorder, but want to retain movement as long as possible, and/or you suffer from chronic pain or a chronic pain disorder that needs rehabbing, 3) you need to strengthen your core and back muscles due to injury or to achieve better balance, or 4) if you find yourself bored with the 'usual' PT routines. I would definitely recommend Wellness Solutions for their approach to Pilates for ALL LEVELS, even those who are reading this review and recognize the references to Pilates but have no idea what a Reformer is. Beginner to expert, and all of us who fall somewhere in between, will find benefit from sessions here. Their breadth of knowledge is impressive and the one-to-one approach to each client (even if you are scheduled as a duet/doubles session) is refreshing. Some beginners may think the price is steep but, I can assure you, it is quite average. Tina does offer a bulk session package, at a lower cost per session, you just have to ask. Also, for those who are not quite sure of the Reformer, those who are beginning to 'workout' or want to keep doing something after finishing PT, or you are just really strapped for time, Steve does 'half sessions', without a cost mark up. This is pretty rare for a Pilates Studio, and a great option to have. Wellness Solutions also offers massage and full body heat therapy as well as a number of other unique treatments. And, Tina is a Young Living distributor who hosts frequent free to very low cost informational and how-to events.
