This place is run by a couple of people. They both look like they're high on something (10am Monday morning). The man is very aggressive and mentally unstable. I feared he was going to physically attack me. In a matter of seconds his mood changed dramatically. Luckily, I wasn't alone and my friend witnessed the situation. This called for a police intervention but unfortunately, I don't think they could do anything. Scary!

My son is heading back to school tomorrow. We reserved a pickup truck over a month ago so we would have enough room to bring his furniture, etc. We arrived at the Lincolnwood Budget Car and Truck Rental at the reserved time and no pickup trucks were available. We did not receive an email, text or phone call letting us know there wasn't a pickup available for us. When asked why we were not notified, they said they were busy (not sure what she was doing as there were only two trucks in the parking lot and no customers). She said "we could, however, rent a bigger truck for $1/mile." Uh no! We have to drive 400 miles each way. Sounds like Bait and Switch. Never again Budget Car and Rental!!!

I was waiting in the parking lot for my mother to come out so i could follow the moving truck, and this aggressive/angry man came out screaming and swinging his arms at me. Telling me "Don't block my shit in" referring to his truck that was parked by the door. I felt like my life was being threatened the way he was yelling and swearing. Come to find out HE'S THE OWNER. DO NOT COME HERE. Terrible service and the owner is racist as well. He yelled several racial slurs at me, my mother, and daughter. HORRIBLE!

I have moved several times throughout my life but this was the absolute worst and the majority of the issues can be attributed to this very location. I had made a reservation a week in advance of my "big move day". I hired movers and had them ready at my home at 9am (running the clock). I had a 7:30am pickup here for a 26' truck. I took a Lyft over there so as to not leave a car over there all day. I show up at 7:38am, front door is locked. I knock and knock and a guy opens the door and asks what I need. I said I'm here for my pickup of a 26' truck and he says (I kid you not!!!), "Does it LOOK like there's a 26' truck here?" :O He and his associate let me know that they had my reservation transferred over to another Budget location on Elston deeper in the city. They never emailed, called, texted, sent me a letter - NOTHING! I expressed my frustration. They called the other place and said that I was all set there. I had to call another Lyft to get to the other location. Not only did they not apologize at this Lincolnwood location but, as I was explaining my frustration about the absence of communication over the change in reservation location, the guy literally did an about face, walked into his back "office", and closed the door! I could go on about the rest of the day and how Budget disappointed me, but this is the portion that involves the Lincolnwood location.Do not rent from here - seriously!

One of the worst business experiences I've ever had. I fully pre-paid my car booked online a week in advance. I got there on time to pick up. Place had closed early with a sign on the door with a phone number. I called they said they gave my car away to somebody else already and there were no cars left. They were very rude. Their excuse was I didn't answer their phone call two hours earlier (I missed it) so they figured they could just give my reservation away. I was stranded there and had no car to honor an important appointment. I called Budget who was no help until I pressed to speak with a manager. They said I absolutely should have had a reserved car guaranteed as when you pre-pay like I did, that is their policy and the branch had no right to give the car away. They filed a complaint on this branch and refunded me and gave me a voucher for a free rental, but interestingly when I tried it online it says only high end vehicles are available requiring added cost out of pocket, but when I search without voucher code lots of cars show up available. Last time I use Budget. Beware of this Lincolnwood location on Lincoln Ave.

For anyone looking to rent a vehicle from this location, PLEASE JUST CALL THEM DIRECTLY. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT book anything online. Call and confirm they even have cars available. I wasted time and money getting all of the way to this location with a CONFIRMED reservation just to be told later that they don't have any cars available. The entire experience was so off putting and got worse over time. Here is what went down: I got dropped off at this place, the lady at the counter asked for my drivers license and a credit card (at this moment, they literally had one car left to rent). Not even a minute later, another customer rolls up in a cab and outside, the assumed owner pretty much yelled at her (though he and the receptionist would say "he just talks loud"), that they don't have any cars and she should not let her cab go. He's out there yelling at her, she's yelling back asking why he's getting loud and she's getting upset because they told her over the phone they have a car for her but is telling her now that they don't. Meanwhile, I'm still inside thinking we are continuing the check in process. Turns out, SHE is the one this last rental car belongs to. They give me back my cards without much explanation. Apologizes to the other customer, saying that they got the wrong person (me). The lady calls another location to ask about available cars while checking in this other person. She tells me no one else has anything and that's it. Nothing else more. No explanation for what could have possibly been the reason for such a mistake. No reason given for the miscommunication. No suggestions for alternative options. Not even a basic, generic apology - which was the last thing I was even looking for at this point. I was left waiting there confused and straight up ignored and without any acknowledgment from this team, I just left. Maybe this was a one off considering their previous positive, albeit minimal, Google reviews but after seeing these Yelp reviews, clearly this is not a first for this strange place. I don't write bad reviews but the entire experience warranted a fair warning for future customers. Go elsewhere.

Zero stars. Made a reservation. Went at the appointment time. Car I rented was not there. Was told I could "go to o'hare" to get the car I reserved. Told them that was their job. Will never rent from them again.

the worst place to rent the recently got new owners and they are the most rude people ever. I called 3 days before to confirm my reservation time and price they said everything was good and it was all worked out I get there and they try to run my card for 1200 saying I was wrong and yelling in my face absolutely ridiculous biggest assholes ever DO NOT RENT FROM HERE

Do not use this location and beware Budget's handling. I had a reservation, picked up the car. I had told the guy on the day of rental that I would return it after business hours the night before it was due. He didn't say anything about my not being able to return it early. I returned the car early in the night drop the night before it was due. I later received a huge billing for additional days that were billed to my account. I called requesting a fix. I was told that this location does not allow night drop off. Customer service added that I'm solely responsible and should have known that this location does not allow night drop off. Hope was I supposed to know when the agent never mentioned that to me. This is poor handling by this location, poor handling by Budget headquarters, and huge additional billing for me which no one seems to be willing to fix. I guess this means no more business for Budget from me, of which I had many previous rentals.

I wish I could give 0 stars. I made a reservation for a move weeks in advance all just to be told that my truck is not available...ON THE DAY OF MY MOVE. I was essentially told that I’m SOL when I asked how they plan on rectifying the situation. I luckily, was able to find a different location that could accommodate but I strongly, STRONGLY urge everyone to avoid this franchise. They genuinely do not care about their customers.

No, do not use this place to reserve your truck/van/car for any of your needs. Just do not. Reservations made weeks in advance are not honored. They emailed me the day before to remind me that I have an upcoming reservation...6 hours before they ran out of trucks. Then they called me and told me that they didn't have a truck for me...13 minutes before I arrived to pick it up, as I was on my way to pick it up Finally, they charged my credit card! What??? Seriously, spend your money elsewhere.
