Dr. Smith and her team were awesome! Everyone was so friendly. Super professional and attentive. There was no wait and my doggie got taken care of with gentleness. Everything was explained in detail and they made sure I knew that they would be available if I had any other concerns or questions.

Love is an action. Love is patient, kind, humble, gentle, selfless, understanding, truthful, never giving up, never losing faith, always hopeful, & enduring in all circumstances. The women at EVS demonstrated true love through their actions. Not only were they professional and highly knowledgeable, but they were also caring & compassionate. People can be taught textbook things, but they can’t be taught integrity and care. I am very thankful to have met such a group of strong, professional, and caring women who took amazing care of my little dog, Animal. They saved his life. You all were a true blessing to us both.
Animal, my 15-year-old Morkie, was transferred to EVS due to dangerously high kidney levels/ renal values.
The wonderful staff I met:
Brook - What a wonderful and lasting first impression I had of EVS from Brook! She welcomed me at the door with warmth & compassion. She was approachable & kind; she was easy to talk to about hard things. I felt comfortable opening up to her & asking about awkward financial things. She answered my hard questions with grace & understanding. She was sensitive to my situation; professional but personable. It's clear Brook has a high emotional IQ. She's a genuine person who simply cares & is generous too.
• Dr. Amy Smith - I felt in good hands right away with Dr. Amy. Professional, sweet, smart, & knowledgeable. Above all, I admired her patience with me and her ability to plainly explain technical things, while also being sensitive. She never displayed one hint of irritation with all my questions & fumbling over my words. A true model of patience. Also, the notes Dr. Amy took were so thorough & detailed. What care & integrity, from the medical side to the bedside!
• Abby - What an asset to the team! I needed Abby’s positivity, confidence, & encouragement. I called several times, and Abby was so encouraging each time, even though the situation looked bleak to me. She encouraged me not to lose hope, & I needed those words of comfort & courage! Abby made me feel heard & understood. I was able to go back to sleep soundly after talking to Abby at 3am. Abby was also one of the main technicians who closely watched over Animal and took excellent care of him.
• Dr. Heather Hlad - With all her technical knowledge and expertise, Dr. Heather still spoke to me like a true friend. She was very down to earth. Heather shared her expertise & words of wisdom with me, & she was also supportive in whatever I decided to do. What a gift Heather has; to be able to talk to you both as a professional and as a real friend in a time of distress. The level of energy Heather gave to me (especially in the middle of her busy shift), was something I’ve never experienced before from a doctor. Heather truly cared, not only for Animal but for me. I admired her confidence too. Also, Heather’s notes were as thorough as Dr. Amy’s. Very professional.
• Jeni / Jenni & Miranda – Wonderful interactions with Jeni & Miranda! They too gave me words of encouragement and were also very understanding. Also, the fact that they genuinely cared to see the reel I made of Animal, said a lot about them. They expressed genuine interest for someone else’s interest. That’s rare. Most people would pretend to watch and care, but not Jeni, Miranda, (Abby and Dr Amy too). Sincerity is always felt. They truly wanted to see what I wanted to share. That small act of kindness said a lot; another thing that reassured me that my dog was in the right place.
• Dr Graves was also professional & warm-hearted. Thank you Dr Graves for your expertise and care for Animal!
I felt like all these women were my girlfriends. Whoever has these women as friends or sisters in everyday life, you are blessed. Thank you again, for saving Animal’s life and for being a good friend to me for those 48 hours. I'

I brought my cat here seeking treatment for a severe heating pad burn that he sustained during a dental procedure with his primary vet. We came two nights in a row to receive wound care. Dr. Jessica Graves was a very kind, competent advocate who finally got my cat what he needed. Dr. Amy Smith was very sweet and compassionate. No one has fun at the vet ER but we were treated very well here. Most importantly, my cat is finally starting to get better.

Everyone was very nice and professional, except for one worker who was behind the counter on 8/23/24. She was rude, dismissive, cold, and unprofessional. Completely embarrassed herself and her company.

We want to thank the wonderful doctors and staff that work here. My best friend, Beans, had a rough three days before we had to say goodbye. We met with three different doctors at this facility in a short duration of time. I feel each doctor was helpful, honest, and compassionate. Thank you so much for making the passing a Beans as painless as possible. We appreciate your around the clock services, as you were there for us, when our Vet was not.
Thanks,
The Vala Family

Dr. Amy Smith at Emergency Veterinary Services of Lisle saved my dog’s life. She pin pointed the problem and successfully operated the surgery. During the whole process, everyone was incredibly patient and compassionate. I am so thankful and I highly recommend this practice.

LIARS!!! Brought my dog there after calling ASPCA and finding out he ate something toxic. When I got there and called the number on the door they told me it would be a 3 hour wait and that they were in surgery and couldn’t step away “FOR ANY REASON”. After I hung up on the lady to call another clinic, she stepped away to come outside and give me attitude to slam the locked door in my face. I’m not upset about the wait, but that you lied about not being able to step away.
TERRIBLE SERVICE WOULD HELP MY DOG AT HOME BEFORE BRINGING THEM HERE.

I recently had to put my dog down after what we thought was autoimmune anemia issues turns out was cancer. I kept asking I think this is cancer or something but her primary vet and the ER just chucked it up to anemia. This clinic has very nice staff they were real sweet and kind but after 2 ER visits with them I wouldn’t bring any animal back here unfortunately. The first vet we had there thought she saw something on her scan but didn’t do any other testing besides X-ray. This visit was not too related to the anemia so I will give her that. I just wish she would have done the ultrasound then if she had suspicions. The second visit, this doctor did not seem as knowledgeable at all. I had brought my dog in because she had passed out looked like she died for a few seconds and we’ve been monitoring her anemia. She hadn’t been eating much lethargic. I thought her issues were that based on what doctors had been telling me. The doctor said she was fine and stable so nothing more to do after just doing labs only and that she wasn’t a good candidate for blood. I realized when I got home that her labs had dropped in half hgb only 5 platelets only 75 they were 150 something back in May. And I called back the next morning and they told me they didn’t have any blood in stock and since her vitals were stable it’s fine.(of course it was the weekend). But it seemed as though they sent us home anyways because there was no blood in stock. Well the next night she passed out again and I brought her to the VCA instead. They did 2 tests right away one to check for the autoimmune anemia which came back negative (go figured). Then the doctor did an ultrasound on her abdomen and found nodes all over her spleen and liver. He seemed WAYYY more knowledgeable than the previous doctors. I know they can’t diagnose everything but it seems that an ultrasound should have been a standard with the severe labs and symptoms my dog was experiencing. So unfortunately we ended up having to put her down because the cancer had really spread across the liver. If proper testing was done it could have saved us couple grand in vet bills and potentially could have caught the cancer sooner. I know this is not all on them our vet has a part in it too. Just being ER vets I thought would be able to have more knowledge on testing. I know nothing can bring her back but it is frustrating trying to find answers and having to go to 4 doctors to finally get an answer.

Only one star because all the doctor did well was to give my dog 2 radiographs that I was able to use with AI interpretation and I was able to save my own dog thanks to AI and the two radiographs $710 later...$700 for the radiography and $10 for the correct interpretation. Meanwhile, the doctor was saying it could be a stomach tumor or pancreatic, prepare for end of life.
Needless to say, the doctor was sketchy enough to recommend I take him and seek medical attention if he gets worse. Never again will I go there.
My dog is a 12lb chihuahua suffering to almost the fatal point of functional ileus, with an enlarged heart. Thank You AI for the correct ileus diagnosis and the correct measures to take.

This past Saturday my little man, Marcos, had a medical emergency and we ended up here. We saw Dr. Amy and she is one of the best, most compassionate, thorough vets I have ever seen. She explained everything in a way that made sense. She fully supported and agreed with our decision to euthanize when my family realized Marcos was not going to recover. Dr. Amy made us feel comfortable ugly crying in one of the most uncomfortable and traumatic moments of our lives. Thank you, Dr. Amy, for peacefully sending our boy over the rainbow bridge.

I want to thank Dr. Amy Smith and her staff for such great care with my Remi. Granted it wasn't a life of death emergency, but Remi was diagnosed with Blastomycosis in March, and is now experiencing severe seasonal allergies on his feet, legs, ears and his eyes, which were extremely red and developing sores which could become infected. Highly recommend this facility and again, thank you, to Dr. Amy Smith for taking the time, the examination and ordering up medications for my boy, Remi.

We visited Emergency Veterinary Services several times while our greyhound was healing from a long injury. Our dog Happy was attacked by a neighbor dog which initially left her with a bad bruise and a cut. She was in terrible pain from the bruise; the veterinarians took exceptional care to get her comfortable. As Happy's wound healed, there were complications with her very thin skin (common to greyhounds). We visited this location a couple more times for wound cleaning and pain management. Each time we received treatment that was professional, kind and thoughtful. Everything was explained to us in great detail, which allowed us to make the best decisions and prepared us for visits with Happy's regular vet. Happy was treated very thoroughly and with great care. With the number of visits we had to make, we dealt with many different staff members. All were competent, patient, and kind. Thank you!

I’ve waited to post this review, because I wanted to be sure that my kitten was going to be okay, however this was the worst experience I have ever had at a vet. My sister and I, brought in my young kitten who appeared to be having trouble breathing. It took well over an hour before I was able to speak with the vet, which I totally understand as it is an emergency facility. I was told that he needed X-rays to rule out aspiration. I asked if it was possible for them to just listen to his chest and see if they could hear fluid as I didn’t have much money. I was told that the X-ray was necessary, so I agreed. After the X-rays the vet came in to give us a very grave prognosis for my kitten. I was told that his heart was enlarged, that he was going to pass away, and there was nothing anyone would be able to do for him. We were obviously devastated by this news, but still paid the $500 they charged us. To our surprise a week later the kitten was still alive and seemed to have turned a corner. I took him to his regular vet, and sent the vet the X-rays that had been taken. My vet told me that my kitten was going to be just fine, and that I was taken advantage of due to my young appearance. It is almost a year later now, and I’m grateful to say that my kitten is doing wonderful. These people have absolutely no idea what they’re doing, or take advantage of people during some of the scariest most vulnerable moments of their lives.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE!
Where do I even start. Tonight my sweet cat’s health declined out of nowhere. He had been getting weak over the past few days and tonight we brought him to the ER since our trusted vet is closed on the weekend.
We get to the vet and the nurse immediately took him and had an awful attitude even giving a snarky look once she thought she was out of view. We get in the exam room away from our cat and just wait. Shortly the nurse comes in telling us we need to do a $1,500 procedure. We asked follow up questions and she never gave us an answer.
When the doctor came in she was moving strange and had weird speech and I remember thinking “she’s high” I don’t know what this lady was on but I got my cat out of there ASAP. The doctor came in telling us to put him to sleep, when she already stated she hadn’t even examined him. When I said I was taking my cat home she got very judgmental. I understand vets care about the needs of the animal but this wasn’t the case, she just wanted our money. We were there for 20 minutes tops and our bill was $455.
Emergency fee $190
Warming blanket $41
Catheter (we didn’t approve a catheter) $80
Injection $64
Monitoring $80
Like I said we were there for a short period of time they barely even monitored him. The vet gave us a medication for the cat for only 5 hours when we know for a fact they could have given us an oral medication that would have got him through the night.
