Big Run Wolf Ranch

Hours: Big Run Wolf Ranch is a non-profit wildlife rescue in Lockport, IL, operating since 1986. It is a family owned and run rescue dedicated to conservation through education. The ranch offers on and off-site presentations, school field trip opportunities, homeschool field trips, and an open house to the public once a month. They also host private tours and special events. The facility rescues animals from breeders, unfit owner conditions, illegal trafficking, the fur trade industry, or situations where the only other option would be to be put down. The animals, which include wolves, a cougar, and a skunk, are very well cared for. Enclosures are clean, well-maintained, and have places to climb. The animals are well fed, have healthy coats and clear eyes, and seem well socialized, happy, and active. They have strong bonds with the staff and volunteers, who are very knowledgeable, friendly, and obviously love the animals. The ranch depends upon public donations to continue its work. It is actively working on expanding its property and adding a large exercise enclosure so the animals have more space. Parking is available on-site for ADA folks only; all others park at a nearby location and take a shuttle bus. Guests are invited to book a special event, field trip, or attend an open house to meet the beautiful rescued animals.
