“We have a 3 section window in our living room……a stationary center window pane with horizontal sliding windows on the left and rights sides. The stationary center pane broke a seal…. when that happens, the window section starts to fog up. It looks like finger smudges that progressively gets wore.

We contacted several window and window repair businesses in the area. One major well known company came out and told us we couldn’t replace just that stationary, center window pane and that we’d have to replace the entire three section window frame and all. Now, in all fairness, we learned sometimes they’re constructed such that the three section window is one “molded” piece and can’t replace individual panes. One representative from one of the major companies in the area came in, trying to impress us with books that he and his company had written about windows. But as far as examining our window, he never got closer than 20 feet. He looked over toward the window in the living room from our dining room for about two seconds and said the entire frame has to be replaced and that the center piece cannot be individually replaced. We did our due diligence and did find some companies that said they could replace the stationary, center window pane. Two of these companies told us they could replace it for a fair price. However, doing follow up calls with them was like talking to a wall… They would say they were going to hear from their window supplier within a day or two and let us know what the final cost would be and set up a date to repair it. We left them several messages to ask them about the status… They never responded.

Then we heard from some good friends of the family about Moore Glass Repair in Joliet. They initially came out and really took their time examining the frame and assured us the center pane only could be replaced. Moore Glass Window Repair completed the job yesterday and it’s beautiful! Dave and AJ were the two installers that came out. They were very friendly and professional… My wife and I could tell right away that they knew exactly what they were doing. It’s almost like you could envision they had experience such that they could be blindfolded and know exactly how to remove and replace the window frame. We live in a 55+ community that has a golf course and they told us ahead of time they had tons of experience in our subdivision given that some homes have golf balls that crash through their window during the year.

So we highly recommend if you need any type of Window Repair to talk with multiple sources and get multiple bids before making a decision.
