I went into this Matteson location and this was a terrible experience for me. First of all the wait was ridiculous. Second of all, They said it would be a 50.00 hold on my card but Chris the guy that were assisting me clearly didn't know what he was doing. He took 156.00 off my card and when I brought it to his attention, he told me that it was a glitch in their system and it no way he can put it back so then when I wanted to purchase their insurance and cancel using mines for the vehicle. He charged my card another 56.00. He clearly didn't know what he was doing. This location needs to be addressed ASAP to their corporate office! Better yet just shut down completely. This is highway robbery.They are very unprofessional and needs customers service training. The suv they gave me was a little under a quarter tank of gas ,the vehicle was not cleaned properly on the inside and the outside. Don't go to this location for a rental. They don't deserve your business. Clealy when state farm were paying for all thee expenses. They needs an improvement on how to run a business and keep customers! I will rate them at a negative 0 if I could.This location is giving Hertz a bad name...

The worst business created in America. Neither the manager Aisha or worker Chris were helpful or professional. Chris is not professional in explaining or courteous to any patron trying to utilize there service. I fortunately had to use another company for my insurance rental claim and received impeccable customer service. I would have rathered walked for the time my car was down then to deal with Hertz in Matteson. Beware and find elsewhere to take your money and time. I wish I could give no stars.

The two workers I encountered an older blk male and a younger short round male. The older man was a sweetheart and very helpful. Unfortunately, I received the younger guy assisting me. He walked up to the counter did not introduce himself, drinking on a juice pack. He told me they only had SUVs available. When I went out to the vehicle received it was a small car not an SUV. He barely explained anything to me and did not take me through what vehicles they had available for rent or anything. The workers just give you whatever vehicle they want. I was not upset about the small vehicle because I did not want to go over much of what the insurance was going to cover, but it would have been nice to have been informed. I waited an additional hour because the worker said the vehicle needed to be cleaned. That was fine, no problem. However, upon further inspection, the car was dirty on the outside (he said they didn't clean the outside due to the weather conditions.) It was cold outside and raining here and there, but I'm still confused as to what that had to do with cleaning the outside. The inside was barely clean, so there should not have been an additional 1 hour wait. The flooring of the vehicle on the driver side is ripped up. The vehicle sounds like it's on its last leg. Unfortunately, I'm stuck in this vehicle for another week, until my own vehicle is repaired. I would not have given any stars if it weren't for the older gentleman, he was helpful and allowed me to ask him questions pertaining to the vehicle that the male assisting me did not answer or clarify.

I am only giving a 5 star review for the store manager and the male worker there. I pre paid online for my rental, when I got to the place the guy told me I had to call a 1800 # and cancel my reservation and repay with credit card, I was pissed. I was upset with everything I had to go though but she and him were nice and dealt with me.

I would try another hertz location. The customer service was beyond terrible. They don’t even greet you when you walk in just sitting there on their phones. Booked the managers special and they only offered an electric car. A good ole bait and switch get you in with a good deal then tell you you’ll need to spend an extra $100 to actually get what you want. Would have appreciated a phone call making me aware of this. Take your business elsewhere because they don’t deserve a dime.

If could give 0 star! I would a complete joke as company .. store manager has lime green hair … no professionalism, was overly rude and I felt very disrespected and uncomfortable.. go to enterprise if need car .. this place should be closed .also Hertz needs to step into the 21 century and get card tap . For digital cards/currency .. no way I should be able to mobile pay but it not be accepted at the counter .

My car is currently being repaired at a Ford dealership and the repairs are going to be a while, so Ford reached out to Hertz and they accommodated me very quickly and was guaranteed unlimited usage until repairs are completed. The staff was professional and very pleasant. I would use them again. P. S....I love the SUV that was given to me.

Horrible place...I made a reservation came to pick up my car to a rep Alicia who was rude...proceed to go behind a tarp to call me and say they don't have a car for me to pick up...I was already in the lobby...terrible customer service would never recommend. Update 10/4/23..just gets worse...opened my cc statement last night and guess what..Hertz had the nerve to charge me for a no show for the rental for 92 bucks...what a joke...called customer service line and they told me that it was because I didn't show...ummm I was there...customer service reversed charges... NEVER go here again...

Based on the previous reviews I’ve read, it seems like everyone has encountered the rude employee that is Alisha and she is supposedly the manager. Poor customer service, poor attitude. She clearly does not like working there and needs to either quit or be fired. How can someone like that be the manager of this location when she is extremely unprofessional, condescending, and rude. 0/5 stars if possible. I tried to make a reservation over the phone but was just taken aback with how rude she was that I had to hang up and make the reservation online myself. I came in to pick up the car and there she was being rude and disgusting to other people and it was only 8 AM! It’s crazy because I’ve rented with Hertz before and they pride themselves on customer service. Doesn’t seem to be the case at this location. Corporate needs to do something about her immediately!

I was picking up my vehicle and they gave it away and wait listed me.The girl at the counter proceeded to get into a fight with another customer and kick her out of the location. Hertz's reputation for customer service is being tarnished by this location. I will go with Enterprise from now on.UPDATE: I stuck around and patiently waited. The same young lady got me into a vehicle a little over an hour later. She explained that the partner I rented through was supposed to tell me about their late arrival policy. This young lady has the difficult job of dealing with customer abuse when she has to tell customers "no". Not an easy thing to do. I was hasty in judgment of my previous review.However, please tell Expedia to update the information they give customers.

If there was a score of triple red zeroes that would be the rating for this Hertz in Matteson IL. (First) I made my reservation online, there was a managers special “EV-electric vehicles”, when I arrived to the location there are the parking lot if full of vehicles. When I approached the counter “female& a male employee” she stars that they “don’t “ have the “managers special” and didn’t provide any other options, her condescending comments caused a bitter taste in my mouth, as I couldn’t believe her attitude and inconsiderate attitude toward a customer. She also stated that I need to update my Hertz account, again unprofessional and condescending. My Hertz account had been previously updated with an email confirmation. I asked for the general managers contact, and you readers already know “ she didn’t provide any information that would help to contact him or her. “Readers”, you already know I left there with no vehicle and no help from this unprofessional employee “where are the cameras! Let’s stop patronizing this horrible customer service, continue to complain until Alicia’s attitude follow her as a reminder, that you don’t treat customers with disrespect and condescending attitude. Without our service you have no job! She should be FIRED! Shame on the General Manager for giving her the title as manager. Alicia is not fit to run a dog pound!!!

HORRIBLE!! I had a bad feeling about them when one of their employees called my phone and left me the most unprofessional voicemail I’ve ever received in my life. I called a few days before I put my car in the shop, letting them know the day and time I would be arriving to get my rental. NO ONE TOLD ME THAT THEY DON’T ACCEPT CHIME or Apple Pay. I arrived to get my car, and waited for almost an hour before I could get serviced. Mind you, I made an appointment. When I finally get called, I pull out my ID and card when one of the employees let me know that they do not accept chime. I explained that I had literally just dropped my car off at the shop and I spoke with someone last week. The employee went on to explain that he usually tells people over the phone that they don’t accept chime. WELL YOU DID NOT TELL ME OR I WOULD HAVE NEVER CAME WITH A CHIME CARD. I could not have anyone else swipe their car for me because the card had to match my name for insurance purposes. I asked what was I supposed to do now because at this point, I’m without a car and a rental car. I was told, “I don’t know” I had to call State Farm and have me rental reservation switched over to enterprise in Matteson, IL, who by the way was able to get me going right away, LUCKILY. If it wasn’t for ENTERPRISE, I would be without a vehicle right now. I will never set foot in this sorry excuse of a business ever again and I highly do not recommend. The employees have no customer services skills or knowledge regarding their jobs.
