Pilson Automotive Ford Dealership in Mattoon is a great place to buy a vehicle . I was looking for some specifics on a Ford Explorer and “AllDay”McKay met all the wants I asked for! He was friendly and kept me posted on the vehicle I was interested in. Within a matter of a few days I was driving home in my Ford Explorer, with all the luxuries I wanted! If you are looking for a vehicle make sure to give Pilson a call!

Terry worked hard to get me in the jeep that most closely fit my needs. He got the necessary items that were also missing and didn’t tack on any costs as I named a figure for out the door price and they met that.

I had an amazing experience buying my new 2024 Jeep Wrangler Sahara! This was a super smooth process, and I had the pleasure of working with Chris and his colleagues to get a very fair deal done with no time wasted! I would absolutely recommend this dealership and, specifically, Chris as a salesperson to anyone in the market for a new vehicle! I was very particular about what trim and color I wanted, and they had exactly what I was looking for, and Chris was very knowledgeable about the vehicle which made the whole purchasing process a breeze! Thank you for the great experience and for helping me get my dream Jeep!

We are pleased by the friendliness and respect we were given by the sales person Dave. He did an excellent job in showing us the vehicle he thought we might be interested in and helped us find the one we really liked. The staff at Pilson Auto are all very friendly and we appreciate how we were treated by everyone.

I had a fantastic experience working with Terry McFarland. He was incredibly friendly and helpful from start to finish. He went above and beyond by staying late to ensure I could purchase my vehicle the same day. I highly recommend Terry to anyone in search of a new vehicle!

Excellent service. Meet with Jordyn (Service Advisor), she ordered tires and made prep for the other work I wanted done. Dropped off my dirty truck for service. Got a call a few hours later informing me it was done. Went to pick it up and I found a freshly washed, almost new looking truck with all the work complete! Great experience and Great communication! Thank YOU!!

We were stranded on a highway driving from Chicago to Mississippi and the dealer sent us a courtesy vehicle to pick us up which was much appreciated then after being towed to the dealership the staff got us in to the mechanic and a few hours later we were back on the road

While the service people located and fixed the problem in a timely manner, the young people at the service desk were dismissive and not engaging at all. Bob Brady’s service people are 100% better. Sorry but I’ll be going back to Bob Brady.

Recently purchased a jeep wrangler. Chris helped me with the purchase. He was polite and informative. No pressure and no haggling. Easy process overall. I would recommend.

Over the years I have purchased several vehicles from Pilson, dating all the way to the mid 80s. Their sales staff has always been top notch. I have however heard horror stories from people about the shady practices in the service department. Until today I had not experienced it for myself and I must say it will not happen again. As a matter of fact it may cause me to go elsewhere for any future vehicle purchases as well.Last week my wife called to get an estimate on having the spark plugs I could not get to changed. They had estimated that with me supplying the plugs it would be about $60 for the labor to change 3 spark plugs. After doing a little research on her vehicle I discovered that the coil packs which sit on top of the spark plugs usually should be changed at the same time. So I called to see how much that would cost. Pilson wanted $562 for 3 coil packs and at the parts store they were only $320. (quite the mark-up) So I brought coil packs from the parts store when I took the car in. Now here comes the shady part. Since the coil packs have to be removed from the vehicle completely to change the spark plugs I thought they might charge a little extra to put the new coil packs in when they put the engine back together, but for some reason the same exact amount of labor that would have been needed to change just the spark plugs more than doubled to $144. So it cost me $84 to have their mechanic open the packages on the new coil packs and use them instead of putting the old ones back in. Congratulations Mr. Pilson you just lost a customer. I know 1 person doesn't break your over stuffed bank account, but maybe if enough people read about how you do business it will have a little impact.Following up on Pilson's replySince you don't like the term "SHADY" lets call it Questionable practices then. As for the parts I brought, the coil packs were Motorcraft brand with the Ford logo stamped right on the package so they are most likely just as good as the ones you sell. Nothing false in the statement about your mark-up, most dealerships do the same thing. The biggest point in my review is that most mechanics would have simply said "sure Mr. Hatten we can throw those new coil packs in for you since we are going to have the old ones out anyway". Instead the price of my service went from "around $60" to $144 because for some stupid reason the factory labor rate guide says the coil packs cost more to replace than the spark plugs and your service manager chose to charge the higher price. Or maybe the original estimate of $60 to replace the plugs was incorrect. Either way, your service manager explained the charges ONLY by quoting that the labor rate guide is recognized world wide as the way to bill labor charges on service. Which tells me nothing. As for offering a discount on the charges I don't recall ever hearing any such thing from your service manager who seems to be a little hot headed and doesn't do well with resolving customer issues.

Made an appointment to test drive a Used jeep at 2pm Thursday Aug 17th at the Mattoon dealership for Friday Aug 18 at 3:45. When I arrived for the appointment I was informed that they never brought it from the Clinton dealership but failed to notify me. Found a better deal at Jackson's anyway.

I was without AC in my van for the whole month of June and the first couple weeks of July. I understand that sometimes parts are on back order and it takes longer for them to come in, but that’s no excuse for the lack of communication. I had to get in contact with my dealer in order to get any answers. When the day that the part was supposed to come in came and went I called and they said it had been pushed back another few weeks. It seems as though they had no intention of calling me, nor did they give me any inclination that they cared at all.I really enjoyed our car buying experience with our dealer but the lack of customer service has definitely made us rethink going back to Pilson’s in the future.

Went to get an oil change this past Saturday. Sometime the line is long so I wanted to get there first thing at 8 am when they opened. I did that and there was just one person ahead of me so I hoped it would be quick. After waiting over an hour I was told they didn't have the right oil filter for our 2005 Ford Taurus and had to get it from another local auto parts supplier. It was close to 10 am by the time I was able to leave and get home. Very disappointed that a simple oil change took almost 2 hours.

Pilson Chrysler Dodge outdid themselves once again. Needed some service work done and they ordered parts and they squeezed me in while I was scheduled to be in town for a separate event (I live 150 miles away). They are AMAZING and thorough!

Very smooth experience. Bob was awesome to work with - very helpful and stayed on top of everything. Dealing with him and the Pilson team was worth the 500-mile round-trip I made to purchase my F-250. I’ll definitely consider them again for my next purchase despite the long distance.
