They shut my account down do to fraud. I only use this account for direct deposit and then I transfer it out into another account. I moved from McHenry to Georgia so I say what do we do I don't line in state anymore. Most banks would issue you another card and mail it out. The lady in the phone harrases me asks me why I moved. Not sure why the questions. Judt mail me out a card is not my fault someone hacked my account. I have to wait to speak to a supervisor. She finally calls back. Closes my account. They are very rude and not very professional here. I will be calling corporate on them!

I thought I liked this bank, but my recent dealings with the trust department have left me questioning my loyalty of 25 years. They ghosted me when I questioned how my cash was being spent, so I made steps to close the account. I requested an electronic transfer to an outside account but was told it had to be a paper request from them. When I had them send in the paper request I followed up in a couple weeks and was told they never received it. They then agreed to wire the money but took another $350 to close the account. Plus a wire fee. I have never heard of such a high fee to close an account, but that is what I was told when I questioned it!!!!!! I tried to accelerate my issues during this process, but never received a return call from the vp. I'm closing the rest of my accounts, but I did used to really swear by this bank. I'm so disappointed

They were very helpful in the homebuying process. I hit a few snags here and there but they were patient with me and helped me work through them. The communication was pretty good too. Any questions I had got answered in a timely manner. Thanks again for helping me become a first time homebuyer!

He made the whole process very easy to understand for a first time homeowner like myself and was very helpful when I had questions. He worked around my busy work schedule and I appreciated that alot. Eric Dowd and Krishin Thadani have really made me feel like this is the bank for me. Not only did they give me great service but also walked me to the door when we were done with the transaction. This bank rocks with people like this in the organization!!

I get a letter in the mail from a collections agency saying that I owe Homestate Bank $495. I closed my account back in May. When I closed my account, the teller handed me whatever money I had left in my account and told me it would be closed. It turns out the teller gave me more money back than my account had in it ($30). Not sure how this happens at a bank. Because he did this, when the bank caught on to it, they made my account negative $30. They said they cannot close an account that's in the negative. Instead of letting me know about the mistake right away, they left my account open for three months with a negative balance and after all of the fees, it got up to $495. They never sent an email, letter, or text. Which ironically they would do if I was still using the bank. Then they had the nerve to send me to collections. When I called the bank, they proceeded to tell me that I should've called to verify that the account was closed and this wasn't their fault.

I have been banking at Home State Bank for several years and have always been happy with their friendly service. in-person, on telephone or online, I have always received great service.
