I lost both of my parents within 9 months of each other, but Robert and Michelle truly helped to get all of the needs taken care of. They went above and beyond to help!
My mother was in the hospital for a bad gall bladder and very afraid of being sent to a nursing home, so I promised her that she would come home. God had a different home in mind for her, but Justen Funeral home helped me keep that very, very special promise. They brought mom back to the house for our family to fulfill that promise. That made it possible for us all to have a last few, extremely special minutes with her, and for her fur babies to also visit and say goodbye.
When my father passed, it was a little more expected. I went to get the photos picked out and as I removed their wedding photo from the frame, I did not realize it had stuck to the glass. Even though I did not pull on it, the photo dropped away from the glass and left huge white flecks of damage all over the picture. The feeling of that devastation is just not describable. But Robert and Michelle came to the rescue. I don’t know how they managed, (even with photoshop it had to be incredibly difficult), but they were able to work real magic and get that photo repaired!
They care.
Justen Funeral home is not just a business. They genuinely care about looking after the families that need them. They took extra care to make both of my parents look very nice. Michelle was even able to reshape my father’s custom hairpiece that made him look himself again.
Michelle and Robert and the staff of Justen gave my parents their dignity, and helped to mend the hurt of the losses to our family with their individual kindness and professional selves. I recommend them whole-heartedly!

My family and I lost our father and we all had no idea what to do and how to go forward with his cremation, we decided to go to Justens for help. Robert was so amazing and understanding through this whole process. Robert went through everything and was very patient with us. The day came and when we arrived Michelle took us into the viewing room and we were all so impressed, we were all lost of words . The room was stunning it was decorated with all my dad’s favorite things like a Cubs diamond mound that his urn was on and a Cubs game playing it was perfect. “ I said my dad is looking down and telling us that you guys did a great job”this would be everything he would want and more. On behalf of all my family members we would like to thank Robert and Michelle for making this sad event so special.

We worked with Robert and Michelle at Justen's Funeral Home, who were extremely kind and went above and beyond to help us organize our dad's wake. They took the time to listen to our requests and then created a space that was completely true to my dad's character. Additionally, they answered all of our questions and provided suggestions on how we could best honor him.

I have never had to plan a funeral before my wife passed away unexpectedly. I chose Justen Funeral Home and was very happy with my choice. Both Michelle and Rob were incredible to work with and they took care of many things that I did not even think of prior to our first meeting. The rooms were set up perfectly and every staff member was compassionate and helpful.

They went over and beyond my expectations. The planning and funeral was done so well and all the guidance was wonderful. I couldn’t imagine it could have been done better anywhere. They really help and listen to what you are saying and struggling with.

My family and I were very happy with everything at the funeral home they did for my husband.Brad and Dave were awesome to work with. Very pleased at how everything was for the wake and funeral. We were all very pleased and thankful for everything!

Our 23 month old son, Calum, passed away April of 2023. Needless to say my husband and I were devastated. In our state of grief, planning a funeral seemed insurmountable. But we found Justen Funeral and are profoundly grateful to Michelle and the staff. They honored our sons life in a way we will never forget.

OVER THE TOP!!!!!!
These are the only words that describe the attention to detail, the kindness, the empathy and the overall service my family received at Justen's in McHenry when my son tragically died on April 2nd. Not only did the entire staff go above and beyond, but we were also treated like friends instead of customers. My son was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He also loved to play pool and was very good at it. When you walked in the front door there was a large sign that read "Eric's Pool Hall". As you opened the door to this large room it revealed a pool table that had been brought in to personalize this service and to allow his friends to play in his honor. At first no one did, but as the evening wore on many did and there was not a dry eye involved. The Cubs 2016 Championship game was also played in the background during the service to honor his loyalty. My many, many thanks to Robert and his staff for making such a sad occasion to family and friends a time of healing as well.

We celebrated my Father's passing on April 6th and the entire staff of Justen's went above and beyond to make sure his life, Marine Corp service and family memories were honored in the best way possible. From the marquise, room, hearse, cemetery and lunch were all coordinated to perfection. We will especially cherish the video memory of the entire service that was the final gift from Justen's. On behalf of myself and my family we will forever be indebted for this amazing sending off. To Michelle and Tonia you have proved that not all angels have wings. Thank you!
