About Fort Massac State Park

Fort Massac State Park offers a variety of activities and amenities for visitors to enjoy. The park features a well-maintained, peaceful environment with a scenic Ohio River view, perfect for strolling, picnicking, or relaxing by the water. There are spacious picnic areas with shelters, ideal for family gatherings, and a boat ramp that leads to a dock where visitors can watch barges pass by. The park also includes a Visitor Center and historical sites, such as the fort that allows visitors to imagine what life was like long ago. The campground is a highlight, with 50 electric sites that are back-in and average 45 feet long. Most sites are 30 amp, with a few 50 amp options, water hydrants throughout, and a dump station nearby. The campground is spread out, providing plenty of space for privacy and relaxation. Clean restrooms and showers are available, and a new shower facility is under construction. Campsites can be reserved through ReserveAmerica, though from October to February, all sites are first come, first served. The park is friendly for pets, with leashed dogs allowed, and offers a fenced playground for children. Visitors have enjoyed the friendly atmosphere, interesting battle reenactments during special events, and good food options nearby. Overall, Fort Massac State Park provides a pleasant experience for camping, outdoor activities, and exploring history.
