I am confused about exactly how to rate this salon. I want to give 5* to the employees at this location. Evelyn and Skylar are the sweetest employees and very helpful, however, the 3* rating is because the bulbs in the beds are not changed as they should be. The cost of tanning and not getting any color from the beds because the salon does not keep up with the replacement of bulbs as they should is not a good look for this salon. New Lenox salon understands the importance of updating bulbs as should all of the La Tans. Mokena back in the day was run better than it is now.

Evelyn ruined the entire experience the second I stepped through the door. I’ve never been treated so poorly by someone who is supposedly working in a customer-facing role. She was downright nasty — glaring at me when I walked in, speaking with a cold and sarcastic tone, and clearly making it known that she didn’t want to be there. She barely acknowledged me, refused to answer simple questions, and acted like she was being personally inconvenienced by my presence. Honestly, I wouldn’t be shocked if she gave me a fake name — her attitude was so hostile and shady. Evelyn is the kind of employee who singlehandedly drives customers away, and she should be fired immediately.
The condition of this place was an absolute disgrace. I felt dirty just standing inside. The floors were covered in grime and sticky patches, dust coated every surface, and there was visible mold growing in the bathroom. The air smelled stale and musty, and it hit you the second you walked in. I was genuinely concerned for my health. The tanning beds were greasy and clearly hadn’t been sanitized between clients. It’s actually disgusting and a huge red flag from a hygiene and safety perspective.
To make matters worse, when I tried to come earlier in the day, the doors were locked for over an hour during business hours. No sign, no explanation. I now realize Evelyn was probably sleeping in the back and ignoring customers entirely. When she finally did appear, she looked like she had just rolled out of bed — literally yawning, rubbing her eyes, and dragging her feet like she couldn’t care less. No apology, no professionalism, just more attitude.
This wasn’t just a bad experience — it was a complete disaster. Between the filthy environment and the vile treatment by Evelyn, I left feeling disgusted, disrespected, and ripped off. I wouldn’t send my worst enemy here. Management needs to take a serious look at what’s going on because this place should not be operating in these conditions. Save yourself the nightmare and stay far, far away.

I had another fantastic visit at this place! The employees are incredibly welcoming and the spa is astonishingly pristine! I absolutely adore the staff AND love the tanning beds at this location ; not only are they impeccably kept and SPOTLESS, but the bulbs seem to be replaced often, leaving me with a stunning, sun-kissed glow!

This LA Tan location is hands down the most unprofessional, unsanitary business I’ve ever encountered. It needs to be investigated and shut down.
Let’s start with the staff. The manager was completely unqualified and rude, with an entitled, dismissive attitude like she couldn’t be bothered to deal with customers. She yawned and rubbed her eyes like she had just rolled out of bed when she finally came to the front—after leaving me waiting for several minutes. I genuinely questioned if she had just woken up from a nap in the back. She didn’t greet me, didn’t smile, and rushed me through the process like I was wasting her time.
Even worse was a staff member who identified herself as Evelyn—although based on how evasive and defensive she was, it’s entirely possible she lied about her name. She was extremely snarky and cold, and gave off a hostile “you’re lucky I’m even speaking to you” energy. She acted like she was too good to be there, rolling her eyes, giving attitude, and talking down to me the entire time. Definitely not someone who should be in any kind of customer-facing role.
This same girl closed the shop early on 6/14/2024—even though it’s posted as open until 5:00 p.m., the doors were locked when I tried to come earlier in the day and remained locked for over an hour. No sign, no explanation—just locked up. My best guess? She was sleeping in the back again, completely ignoring customers.
As for the facility itself: disgusting. There’s dust on every surface, the floors are sticky and dirty, and there’s visible mold in the bathroom. There aren’t even trash bins in the rooms. Worst of all, they do not clean the tanning beds between clients. I witnessed someone leave and the next person go in with no cleaning or disinfecting in between. That’s a huge health hazard.
This place is an embarrassment and a potential safety risk. I’ve already filed a complaint with the health department and plan to report them to the state board. I highly suggest others do the same. Avoid this place at all costs.
