I will NEVER recommend Dynamic power to ANYONE for any reason. Please if you value your property stay away from this establishment.
A little over a year ago I brought them a DOHC L4 cylinder head that had its valve train wiped out by a bad timing belt tensioner. I wanted valves, guides, and a 3 angle job. That is all I said I wanted as the head and seats weren't really damaged and the cylinder head deck was warped but not so bad that I couldn't make it seal with a composite gasket and ARP studs. I was quoted 600ish I think which didn't seam unreasonable to drive some guides and cut some seats. I even said I would lap in the valves myself because I wanted them on the thin side of spec so I had room to work them again should any issue arise in the future. I waited nearly 3 months for what they said would take 6 weeks at most.
When I got it back I was thoroughly disappointed by what I received. They took .015 off the head deck when it didn't really need it so now the deck height is .005 from its service limit. They used an air chisel to drive out the old guides and drive in the new ones. Not that big of a deal (I mean you got to do what you got to do) IF they hadn't damaged a spring seat pad in the process. They also slapped in new valves and lapped them in without cutting the seats. The result was a valve to seat contact which measured .052 on one side and .018 on the other on nearly every valve seat (If I remember correctly the service limit is between .028 and .035 but forgive me its been a while).
I was absolutely furious that something like this was allowed to roll out the door but kept my cool because I caught it as I was inspecting everything prior to reassembly. When I called, the "boss" there (I forget his name) played stupid or maybe he just doesn't look over work before it leaves. He had no idea of its condition when it left. He said there was no way to correct the valve alignment. That's literally what a valve job is for. You cut the seat to realign the contact surface so that its straight with the guide. I don't know if he was not really the boss, if that's just his standard of quality, or if he truly didn't know how to do the work. Either way it wasn't correct.
He fixed the buggered spring pad so I could get a seat onto it but refused to budge on the valve seats. I really was over this entire process as I had never relied on a machine shop for anything in the past so this was my first experience.
I got so lucky because another shop in davenport (that I originally wanted to take it to but didn't because of the lead time) was able to cut the seats and lap them in the same day due to a couple hours of down time. A couple of the leading angles were still slightly off because of the botched lap job but the contact surface was good and within spec and the seat thickness was barely within its service limit so I ran it.
In the end Dynamic Power refused to stand by their work and left me to pay someone else to fix their... mistake? I honestly find it hard to believe that it was an error on anyone's part. Either way It cost me additional months and money.

Todd bent over backwards to help me when I was in a bind. Quick turn around, extremely helpful. I can’t say enough about how helpful it was. Hard to find customer service like that nowadays.
