White Pines Forest State Park is a beautiful and special place for nature lovers, featuring one of the only old growth Eastern White Pine forests around. The huge and beautiful pine trees, along with oak and maples, create a scenic setting. The park offers nice trails through woods and along creeks, with some trails crossing the water several times and providing good scenic overlooks. It is a great place to explore for a day trip, with clean grounds and fun, hiking-friendly trails. There is also a well-maintained playground. The impressive lodge is a WPA-created log building with a really nice gift shop and a restaurant that has really good food. The cabins look adorable, cute, and really comfy, with a homey and cozy feel inside. They are packed with an impressive array of creature comforts, including a gas fireplace, spacious bathroom, television, fridge, and coffee maker. The park allows dogs, which must be leashed. Some visitors report issues, noting that cabin amenities like fireplaces or shower heads may not work properly. Noise from events like wedding parties can sometimes disrupt the quiet, and certain facilities, like pit toilets, may not always be maintained to expected standards. The staff can be hecticly busy at times. Despite this, many find it a really nice place to hike and camp, recommending a visit while suggesting guests ask about scheduled events and amenity functionality prior to booking.
Beautiful state park with lots of trees and foliage. Pine Creek runs through it and there are foot bridges as well as stepping stones to cross it. Four trails for a hiker's delight. There's camping and picnic areas also.

Early season fishing is better, the vegetation in the water hasn't grown enough to be a problem like later in the season.

An exquisite state park with hiking paths,a peaceful stream with mighty bluffs and a lodge with a nice restaurant. Their dinner theatre puts on great shows. A nice place to get away to for however many days you can afford.
