Review written 8/17/2025. Customer service kind of rude about a return I did just because I couldn’t find the receipt. I didn’t mind store credit, so why be rude about it?
But nice selection of items including cool inflatables (see black cat pictured here)

GO TO HOME DEPOT. Place an online order for an item that was in stock per their website. Showed up to the store and was told that they don't have the item and that their inventory reported online wasn't correctly updated. Complete waste of time.

Had a house key break and I needed to get replacements. I asked the customer service if they could get somebody to help me because I had trouble using the Self kiosks for keys before and the keys didn’t work. She told me it was Self service and they would not help me so I said thank you. I guess I’ll go to Home Depot and Home Depot helphelped me immediately.

Kevin was super helpful. We came in looking to keep critters out from under our deck. He walked with us throughout the store to show us all possibilities before we purchased. Worked out great! Thank you!

As much as I like Menards in Mt. Prospect, I'm rating it one star, due to an extremely rude and very unprofessional manager, Jessica. Jessica did everything within her power to make sure a frequent customer, like myself, will most likely not return to this store.
I walked in with a receipt for a price adjustment for a lounging chair that recently went on sale. The nice girl at the quest service desk had to call the manager, Jessica. Right away Jessica announced she will not adjust the price for me, so few minutes later I have returned with the chair and told her I would like to return it ( it was still returnable for a full refund, according to the receipt )Next, Jessica beeing annoyed, rudely insisted that I had to repurchase the same chair again. At that point, I no longer wanted that chair, especially after she made me drag it back into the store, and then argued with me, instead of just simply adjusting the price for it to begin with, or at least trying to be helpful and nice about it.
Nope, she kept going on with her unprofessional behavior, ostentatiously procrastinating the return process, finally informing me with an aditutt, that i would be getting a store credit, when my receipt clearly notified her, I paid cash!
When i finally got my money back, I said, " Thank you." she did not respond at all. I repeated, "thank you " still, no word came out of her mouth. Unacceptable, just unacceptable. People like that should not be working in a customer service, let alone managing it.

Despite arriving at 7:30 pm, 30 min. prior to store closing, I was told I couldn't rent a hand tool (a post pounder) because it was "too late" and they were closing. This policy is not posted anywhere (because I suspect it doesn't exist). The customer service representative I spoke to was incredibly unhelpful and didn't even try to help - she radioed someone she called a manager who confirmed it was "too late" for tool rental.
Then I drove 5 minutes down the street to the Home Depot in Randhurst Village where I was told "tool rental is open as long as the store is." They were able to solve my tool rental issue with no problems.
Therefore, I highly recommend choosing a different hardware store and skipping this Menards.

Menards is our go to hardware, lumber and garden store. They have everything we needed and better prices than Lowe’s and Home Depot. On top of it they offer the 11% rebate??
Just wish the 11% rebate didn’t have to be mailed in, it’s a waste of our stamps, this seems so old school.
