I have used Lee 4+ times to do my taxes. No issues and online payment for his services were nice. This year was my first time using him since retirement. I use a premium service to not have to do work and not deal with minor things. I just want it done with no contingencies. This was not the case this year. They wanted me to find a form on my fed and state taxes and put in envelope and mail to agencies to pay taxes. This is new to me since usually I received a return. I would have much rather just sent Lee some checks and they mail it in for me. Isn't that part of what I pay for? Or maybe it's like buying eyes glasses and I have to pay extra for the super awesome night time glare removal.
I would gladly pay extra for them to do this. I just want my taxes done. It's 2024, I'm 46 and a single dude. I don't own envelopes, stamps and the checks I have are from 3 addresses ago. When I inquired about doing this electronically they were no help. Said there is a website somewhere that does it. I went to a website Somewhere and felt really suspicious about giving them any of my personal information. Contacted Lee and got more non helpful advice.
Also the kept asking if I had been a client there before. Yes I have used them several times before. Maybe not consecutively, but I had used them before recently. Which was just annoying.

Lee was our accountant since 2016. He won't be for 2024 and thereafter. He left off our eldest child from our taxes and instructed us just to file an amended return with the US and IL. In his extreme haste just to get our return out the door, he didn't do any due diligence on our return this year. In fact, he said the return was "kicked back" because our minor son had a return filed already. That was incorrect. This has led to a process of back and forths with the state and feds on our taxes.

It is a distinct pleasure to write a review for Lee Mandel & Associates. They are simply the best accounting and tax firm I have ever experienced. Lee and his staff are consummate professionals. They are extremely knowledgeable in all areas of accounting and tax law, very efficient, friendly, and a pleasure to work with, always responding very quickly to any needed action or question. Lee has handled both my personal and business accounting and tax preparation for over 35 years. His advice has always proven to be excellent and I have never seen him or his staff make a mistake. In tax prep, his knowledge has also saved me significant money by knowing all aspects of tax law and applying it for my best benefit. His fees are also very reasonable. I give Lee and his associates my highest recommendation.

This is the only time I've ever written a review, if you are reading this I urge you not to use this company for your taxes. A vital mistake almost cost me a lot of money that not them but I ended up catching! You would think they would of caught the error.Instead of owning up to the mistake and being accommodating like a normal business would do after a mistake, they were very difficult and disingenuous.... it appeared as if they didn't want to put in any effort or time to help with my issue. They didn't seem to me to do any due diligence. They seem to just take your files and run it through some kind of automated system instead of looking things over carefully. Poor service and very rude staff. Be warned!

This was my first time working with Lee and it will be my last. I am not someone to write a review, but he filed my taxes for me, was not personable, kept pushing me to upload all the necessary documents when I had mentioned they were not readily available at the time. Finally as the taxes get filed, he decided to not pay them. It specifically states in his cover letter, "We MUST verify you bank information (routing and account number) EVERY YEAR. Please include in the organizer and/or when submitting your supporting documents to us as a copy of a check for us to obtain the correct routing and account number to be used for DIRECT DEPOSIT and/or AUTO WITHDRAWAL set up for tax refund or taxes due." 2 months go by, I get tax statements from the IRS stating I owe money and interest. Zero compassion, all he said was, "sorry it states in our cover letter we are not responsible for payments." I asked him to point out where he states this, and he couldn't do it for me. So now I owe hundreds of more dollars due to my TAX ACCOUNANT not PAYING TAXES. Seems like that should be included no matter what, being as hes the only tax accountant I've ever worked with who wont complete this step. Would not recommend.

I always do my own taxes but decided to get my mom's taxes done by Lee Mandel & Associates and I couldn't be happier. I scheduled an appointment with John. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they use a secure digital file system so that I could upload files ahead of time. Very helpful! On the day of my appointment, John was able to knock out my mom's taxes in an hour or less. Thankfully her taxes are pretty straightforward, but the federal and state returns were e-filed and everything processed in a couple weeks. That was great! I'm almost considering having Lee Mandel & Associates do my own taxes next year! Money and time well spent here.
