Please take note. We were excited when Mariano's came to Naperville as it gave us a variety of shopping options. My daughter is a local college student and began working for Mariano's Naperville with their mutual understanding of her school schedule. All went well for the first semester. They then began scheduling her on the days she had school (the days originally agreed upon from the beginning had not changed). She spoke to her manager, Human Resources, sent emails, texts and also put her availability through the store app multiple times; however, they continued scheduling her on days she had school. She enjoyed her job; however, school had to come first; therefore, she had to quit. Management at this store is extremely poor with a revolving door. Beware if you are considering working for the Naperville Mariano's.

Just made my last visit to this store. As a premium store, I have different expectations. The prices I paid were very premium, but the services were anything but that. The store was busy, but no one seemed to notice. Waited in line for a while because of a lack of cashiers. Worse yet , NO BAGGERS. Adding insult to injury, I had to bag my own groceries and was CHARGED 50 cents a bag for this privilege. Then, 3 of these bags, the handle, ripped. I have 5 other stores closer to me. Will save my gas by going to one of them.

I shop at mariano's everyweek ,but never went to this store before. At the finish of shopping l went to check out and they charged me 10cents per bag. Not because of a city ordinance but for them. I went and complained to the service manager who told me they were a pilot program store.when l turned and walked away she flipped me off behind my back not. Knowing my wife was in line watching. When l called to complain l discovered they have no one in USA. All based out of America.

Over the years I have spent thousand of dollars at the Mariano's Naperville location. Today I waited in line for 20 minutes then put all my groceries on the belt to have some manager yell at me about purchasing grocery bags. I was astounded. She angerly says you have to purcahse bags as of 11/16, which was a lie becuase I was last in this store 11/21. I had to purchase their paper bags at .10 a bag. By the time I loaded my car the handles tore off 1 bag, 1 bag shredded in half and I had groceries all over the pavement. I will never shop Mariano's/Krogers ever again. My cards from this store have been cut and in the trash.

In the past I lowered the rating here several stars, b/c virtually every trip, I would be overcharged for something at checkout, compared to price on the shelf. Particularly but not limited to produce. Happy to say I think they have finally cleared up that annoying issue. It has not happened very much in past several months. Good job store manager!

This store is really going downhill fast. The aisles are clogged with the extra displays such that two carts can't pass each other. No more plastic bags for groceries. Paper bags are $0.10 each. We brought our own today. The checker wanted to charge us for them. We had to tell her TWICE that they were our bags. If she would have actually looked at the bags she would have seen that they were from Trader Joe's. There were no baggers today. We bagged our own groceries today as there were customers behind us in line. It used to be that the store manager (I think he/she is called store director) wore a clean white dress shirt. One of the "managers" today was wearing his favorite green T-shirt. The problem was that it looked like he had been sleeping in the shirt for a week. The shirt wasn't tucked in. Not a good look for "management". There have also been problems at the checkout. Sale items don't ring up at the sale price. We are in this store about twice a week. The pricing problems happen about every second or third trip. It's as if no one in this Mariano's cares anymore. There is a Jewel right across the street. Hummm....

Quality of the food continues to drop, and now they don't have cashiers except during peak hours. Three employees stood talking while everyone had to use the self-check lines. If someone asked for assistance, they looked put out to have to leave their conversation and help. Should have left my cart and walked across the street to Jewel.

So they just started this policy of no plastic bags which I agree with. However now they want you to pay for the paper bags they always had. What a rip off. Neither Trader Joes or Casey's charges and has always had paper bags. Mariano's wants to be GREEN at your expense. Another political push on the people that nobody wants. I am finished shopping there.Ed

Produce employees are very helpful. The store have good deals sometimes. Having a free account with them is beneficial for getting extra discounts. I do see the reviews about the old lady at the check out in the morning. I took off a star because sometimes it takes her awhile to help you out, even though it's not busy.

Needed sushi to take to a party in Bollingbrook. This location was only 5 miles away from my decision. Called in my order after reviewing menu's online. There was some confusion as to the platter's available. The sushi chef sold me on the Rainbow Platter which included 3 specialty rolls and 1 traditional maki roll. Price was 39.99 and included wasabi and ginger. All in all very fresh and a success at the board party that I attended. Mariano's does sushi very well for the price. Would do sushi board again for a party or a date night at home.

Ginny the old lady is unnecessarily rude. I Was just in there for checkout. I asked two simple price questions AFTER everything was scanned and she proceeds to go " I don't know? I have to hit done." okay did you not just finish scanning can you not do your job hit done and see?? I don't see the point in telling people you can't do your job when it's one simple step do it and tell me the price? THEN something didn't come up right she said idk go t0customer service, nah next time take all the items off that you can't check and make sure are correct when I'm showing you I clipped the coupon on my phone and decided to be a difficult instead of have a manager do a quick override is ridiculous and when they can't put it back the store can comp it and fire you when they lose $ because of your ignorance. I've never had a problem with it at any other store I've ever gone to, next time I'll hold the line up and call for a manager to do the override that they do at every other store. The other manager barb literally was standing beside her having personal conversations when she could have easily done the override.

Kroger, you took a truly great store and made it very below average. You don't even have hand baskets anymore for when people just need a couple of items? I asked and was told "pandemic." REALLY?!?!? Jewel has them...so does Meijer...so does Whole Foods...what's wrong with Kroger. Also the store is a mess almost always.

Rude Old Lady Workin Self Check Out. Picked up Doughnuts, Cinnamon Rolls, & milk. I then headed up to the checkout & only one register was open with 3 people with full carts there so I headed to the Dreaded Self Checkout. I scanned the Cinnamon Rolls, then tried Doughnuts but there was no sku on the box, hit the button for the attendant to come and help. Waited for a bit & kept looking over she was talking to some co-workers waited a bit more looked over again then a line another costumer stood waiting behind me looking over again & finally she walked over & asked what's wrong I said the Cinnamon Rolls & Milk came up on the screen but when I typed in the number for the number for the Doughnuts 2505 but nothing appeared on the screen, she typed it & said how many ? I said a dozen. She then said "Oh you typed in the wrong number for a dozen Why Don't You Try The Right One", & walked away. So then I walked away as well saying "Oh I'm good ......I guess I'll TRY the Grocery Store Across The Street." Very rude & unprofessional she could of just helped me instead of a sarcastic comment & then walking away.

The good: Large store with bakery, deli, Starbucks, pre-made food/salad bar, juice bar, pharmacy and all non-specialty staple grocery items. Also the bar is fun and well-priced. The bad: Most everything else. Mariano's started off as a high-end grocery store, 1-step below Whole Foods, but that was years ago an now it's just a Jewel/Kroger with lipstick. Produce is average Prepared food is mostly gross Fish from the counter is always overpriced and terrible Bakery items look great, but don't taste very good Employees appear dead inside (I don't blame them) Grocery bags are always plastic (They've been out of paper on each of my visits for the last 3 years) Sale items/digital coupons make you buy 5 of a single item; unsurprisingly digital coupons never work and the staff can't help I live less than a minute away and really wish I could enjoy shopping here, but realistically unless I'm in a pinch, I'd rather make the 10min trip to Trader Joes. I never thought that a grocery store could get me so angry every time I shop, but I guess in that regard Mariano's is a real WINNER.
